well it definitely keeps me from being grumpy in the mornings which I am sure my family appreciates :). Actually, I have read studies that show moderate coffee consumption (meaning a cup or two a day - not a pot lol) decreases one's risk for alzheimers and boosts the metabolism among other things.
I know it can be overdone, but in moderation I think coffee can indeed be good for you. Caffeine addiction - not so much, but coffee has anti-oxidants and other good things in it. It's a lot like dark chocolate in my eyes. An ounce of good, dark chocolate benefits one's health. In excess, it is destructive. I believe coffee to be similar.
