My family is from Cephalonia, Greece. The village my father comes from is a village high up in a mountain. No natural water wells that high, so we all have to build our own wells which fill up with rainwater (in the past dug into the ground, built the sides with stones and then white washed it--later they used cement and then white washed it.) Now it is of cement only and up to now it did not need any filtering. I suppose due to the chemicals evaporated into the atmoshpere filtering is wise. Well, we have pipes connecting the wells to the house, so a good way to filter the water is to use special water filters attached to the taps. What do you think?
rainwater is the best for washing clothes! not so good for dinking because it lacks minerals found in the earth.
