Very interesting question as health and fitness are my subjects of real interest. I am also a proponent of weight training. But I do recommend aerobic and flexibility exercises since all these should be included in a balanced exercise program.
For the last 27 years, I have been doing mainly workouts at home. I have gone to gyms to workout sometimes although I have helped some institutions to set up their own gyms. I have weights of different poundage with which i workout regularly. I don't use machines at homes. I regularly go to a nearby park for walking since I prefer to walk in natural environment.
I find that it is convenient and time saving to perform workout at home since it doesn't affect adversely one's routine. At the same time, one can easily fit home workout in one's daily routine and therefore maintain a consistency of workout, which sometimes is difficult to maintain with workout in the gym unless it is nearby. One can maintain a treadmill or elliptical machine and a some weights at home to do the workout. I personally find that this is sufficient to do a good workout at home provided one has reasonable knowledge to use them effectively.
My home workout includes strength training with weights for five days , walking for 45 minutes for five days and stretching for two days a week. I do weight training and stretching at home and go to a park for walking.
