   Anemia affects both children and adults. Anemia due to low red blood cell counts is different from leukemia which is a low white blood cell count. Anemia affects the ability of the red cells to carry oxygen to all body organs. Leukemia affects the ability of white cells to fight infections. read more

   Very good question. I unfortunately, have experience in a few different diseases. LOL  From cancer to children's diseases to diabetics..you name it, it's around. I do think every family has experienced cancer somewhere. I have yet to find a family who has not, and that is unfortunate. 
   
   I have several hubs on cancer and some on childrens diseases. All from personal experiences (again, unfortunately)

    We adopted our now 6 year old daughter from Russia and she has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  There is no cure.  I live with her everyday and will do whatever it takes to take care of her.  In addition to that, she has Reactive Attachment Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, etc.  I've learned a lot.

    I will not admit to be an expert but regarding the first hand experiences part and some effects I have experienced from others; here goes.. I have an understanding regarding Depressions, Paranoia, Schizophrenia, and Borderline Personality disorders. I have taken care of children with asthma for months, night and day. I have survived Dilated Cardio Myopathy which all the professionals find hard to believe that I am off medication, running and singing since it was coupled with a congenital ASD with a heart failure condition after childbirth. A grandfather that shows Alzheimer condition.

    Ah, the fabulous gift of being all messed up.  I am anemic, anorexic, I have ADHD as well as having a child with ADHD... I have been diagnosed with dysthemia, major depression, anxiety disorder, and PTSD.  Oh, and there's more... low blood pressure, insomnia...
    I survived 2 attempted suicides in my teen years.
    
    Needless to say, my life wasn't all sunshine & roses.  I've written a number of hubs on a variety of these topics.  I will continue to write more, since they seem to help others.
