I have to repeat things at home because my husband's hard of hearing. I have to repeat things at work because visitors are worried and not retaining information properly. In a broader social setting I tend not to repeat things, because it's tedious.
My dad repeated things more frequently with age, as does my father-in-law now. Maybe once they retired from work, there wasn't much to talk about, so they say everything twice, or more. I think a lot of people are worried they're not being heard. If someone repeats things, I'll say," I hear you." In other words, stop doing that!
