It depends on your view of a resolution and what you choose. Most of my resolutions are goals, with no definition of how to get there. I see that as motivation. How to get there? A new challenge, a process to contemplate. But even as I write down the goal, I already have a process formed in my mind. So for each month in my planner, I write a goal to help achieve the resolution. Some of the resolutions I can finish in three months, but others can only be finished almost when the next year is over during the first month of December. By which point, I already have been planning resolutions for the next year.
85% of my resolutions are finished each year. They help me focus, stay on track of my overall goals, and achieve the best I can be in life. I've never been disappointed in achieving resolutions and most of the ones I never finish are some that were just a passing thought to begin with.
