Does anyone know a good treatment for hives? My daughter had them for many weeks now.

My daughter has had hives for several weeks. They are extremly itchy and uncomfortable. Been to the ER once, her regular doctor 2 or 3 times plus a walk-in medical place a couple of times. Went to see a dermatologist and she said the hives go away on there own, and the only thing she said was to keep taking Benadryl. It helps as long as she doesn't have to go to school, because it knocks her out. She is only sixteen. Any input or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

She had allergy testing awhile ago, and they didnt find that she was allergic to anything. All blood work came back negative, but her white blood cell count was high so they think she has a virus. They dont think its environmental.

Yeah thats basically the answer we got. They said there is nothing they can do other than let the virus run its course, and the hives will go away on their own. Were going on eight weeks this has been going on.

I am going to consult with an allergist anyways. But today the hives seemed to be not so bad. (Im keeping my fingers crossed).

Yeah its been eight weeks, and they said it was probably not environmental that it was a virus and it would go away on its own, although im not so sure. We are going to see an allergist anyways. But nothing has changed in our house.
