Any natural ways to ease pain of sprained spinal ligament?

I found out this morning that I have a sprained spinal ligament. They are doing some sort of electric type therapy on it but I am aching. I tried both muscle relaxers and as a last result the lortabs they gave me. Neither are working. I'm miserable. Advice?

I had torn ligaments in my ankle years ago and was advised to have ice on it everyday for a week, then I was to soak it in warm water everyday until the soreness went away. I know yours is not the ankle, but seems like a damaged ligament, no matter where it is could be treated the same way. I hope this helps.

Take noni (Morinda citrifolia) juice (2-3 tablespoon/day) or capsule (1/day). It is a pain reliever and it helps repair damaged muscles.

I agree with Diana's observation about the ankle thing. Here's one natural method you can try for ankle and back pains / sprains. Apply pressure in the depression just in the back / behind the outer ankle bone.  Use thumb to press hard. Do relief point in both ankle. Alternatively, here's how to do the pushing method: You may want to apply some oil (healing oil is better) for lubrication and heat. Use bulb of the thumb to stimulate the relief point (back of the outer ankle bone). Pushing is usually applied in series of 100 or more strokes at one time or per session.

According to Dr. R. P. Gupta, any stimulation, massage or pressing of a relief point  should not be continued for more than one minute in one session and not more than three sessions per day. Because doing so may be harmful instead of being useful.

Please take note that any natural healing / relief method may take longer time to show results, thus, it needs tons of patience, firm determination,  self discipline and trusting on your own body's ability to heal itself. Remember that your body is your own ally, not your enemy. Also, better result is more assured if done in conjunction with holistic approach to healing which means a radical change in lifestyle which involve proper nutrition, healthy practices, loving yourself  and a cheerful attitude in life, etc.. It's best if you can consult with a natural health practitioner in your area. Hope this helps to ease your pains. Good luck and I wish you the best of health and a joyful life.

Simple massaging for few seconds at hourly interval may help to some extent. A homeopathy medicine "Hypericum 30" may provide instant relief if used thrice a day if taken orally. I found it very effective when I faced same problem. However, use it after consulting an expert.

Find a pool and swim. In two weeks you will be good as new. Also jacuzzi jets on the area will help. Also, alternate hot/cold in the shower or hot pad/cold packs for 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. The sooner the better after the injury.
The worst thing you can do is lay on a couch all day.
Also, you can use a cathe (big exercise type) ball to exercise if you can't swim.
Consult a physical therapist first on all this advice, first, though.

Because it seem that you have this for some time I would recommend hot and cold compress. If it was my sprain even at this late stage I would use cold compresses alone at least 4-5 times a day. However try the hot and cold. Have a bowl of hot water as hot as you can bear.
Have another with ice water with ice floating in it. Use the hot first dip  a towel in for 2 mins  wrap area then use a cold towel and do the  same for 2 mins. Do this a few times.each day
You may mix activate charcoal with psyllium hush  or flax seed.and water to form a paste. Place on a cloth cover with cling wrap. Put on the are and sleep with it (.Look up charcoal poultice how to make)
Mix cayenne pepper, winter green turmeric, peppermint, healing oil in petroleum jelly and apply .you may heat this  to combine well and massage. Or just  try the commercial Ben-gay for pain. .
Lie on your back on the floor pull up your legs  one at a time to you chest and hold for a minute or two.alternately Then finally pull up both legs to your chest and hold for 3 minutes. Do each morning and evening. All this should help you.

I just recently saw a chiropractor, his advice? along with adjustments included, vitamin c, b complex, and magnesium. They are natural ant inflammatories. Among the most helpful, I couldn't tie my shoes! The adjustments, and magnesium, and b complex. They can be taken with pain meds, won't interfear with meds. They have come out with a back strengthner that you use at home. Basically, it is a board that you lay on to re align the spine.http://www.amazon.com/Stretch-Mate-Orthopedic-Back-Stretcher/dp/B00196P16M/ref=pd_sbs_sg_2
Soaking in an epsom salt bath may also help. Epsoms salts contain magnesium which is very helpful in healing the body. Alternating hot, and cold.http://artist101.hubpages.com/hub/Natural-Treatments-for-Arthritis-Inflammation-and-Pain-including-Gout-Kidney-Stones
