I suffered from social anxiety for most of my adult life. After it started to have a debilitating effect on my life, I saw a doctor and was prescribed paroxetine. It was the best medical decision I ever made. smile

Thank you for the tip. It is good to hear from people who understand.

Exposure therapy... I don't pay a shrink but whenever something causes this reaction I throw myself into the situation as many times as I can bear until it becomes normal. The panic does go away... eventually. It's very difficult but without doing this I am pretty sure I'd still be a cloistered socially anxious recluse. My life has opened up so much since I allowed myself to face these challenges. I hope you have the same success in your struggles.

It's very challenging but there's a cool self help kit called The Midwest Center, check it out. You'll really like it, I did. smile

I was misdiagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. Put on meds that did not help.
There are numerous physical causes for anxiety. Among them include asthma, heart disease, diabetes, hypoglycemia, imbalance of hormones, auto immune disease, such as lupus, or ms,as well as cancer.
If it has become unbearable a physical to rule out a underlying condition may be in order.
Women produce 30% less serotonin than men. Caused from hormone fluctuations. Pms, menopause, and peri menopause just in itself can cause it. Flax seed, as well as soy, and wild yam, are very helpful. For PMS, progesterone cream has been a godsend to many women. http://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-N … rone+cream
Increase serotonin producing substances, such as turkey, and complex carbohydrates. Address any b complex deficiency, as well. The b vitamins are a necessary co factor in the production of serotonin. The supplements that may be taken are tryptophan, st johns wart, and gaba http://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-G … supplement Tryptophan is the only substance that actually produces serotonin. Gaba, is an amino acid derived from proteins, l-glutamine.
Do not take with any other anti depressants, or anti anxiety meds.
By treating the underlying condition, or defiency, the anxiety will cease.
