Many of these suggestions for relieving stress are great, but the main thing is to FIGURE OUT THE ROOT CAUSE OF YOUR STRESS. What is the main cause? Is it work? School? Family? Friends? Noise? Why are you stressed out?
Many suggestions to relieve stress are great for a temporary fix. But it's like having a cold and getting an over-the-counter cold medicine. It doesn't solve it, or make it better or prevent it from coming back, right? So rather than mask or distract you from the stress, start understanding the underlying cause.
We suggest JOURNALING. Getting out your feelings you will begin to see a pattern and be able to witness with your own eyes WHY and WHEN you get stressed. Some people are stressed in the middle of the day during work or school. So this would be mental stress. Some have family or friend issues and the stressed is caused by harboring feelings of resentment that add up so much to the point your whole body feels stressed out because you are keeping quiet about how you really feel. By journaling, you will see the 'pattern' unfold to be able to address your stress the right way. If you are around so much noise during the day, then getting yourself to a quiet place to unwind and get away from noise - like a library or something might help.
Being able to pinpoint the triggers really helps with stress release. Much of our stress we take on is well, because we enable situations to get 'out of control' and it builds up to the point we just can't handle it. The key is to take back control of your spirit, well-being, happiness, joy, the ability to relax, because you can talk, get it out, vent, release, share - and journaling really helps with that.
Then you can get back to the activities you really enjoy and be able to truly enjoy them instead of only temporarily taking on the relaxation, only to go back to being stressed the next day.
Balance is key. Get enough sleep (we deal with stress better!); get enough water (hydration helps!); get plenty of fresh air each day and some exercise; and get enough YOU TIME... we often 'give' too much of ourselves trying to be the perfect child, the perfect friend, the perfect neighbor, sibling, co-worker, employee, student - we forget we are human and are allowed to celebrate who we are - on every level and take that self-imposed pressure off. By doing this we can relax more and honor ourselves and relieve the stress more permanently.
Rest. Relax. Be. You are amazing as you are!
