Cravings can go both ways, a lot of times it is a sign of nutrient deficiency, or that your body needs more. Dried fruits, such as cherries are very healing to the body, especially in arthritic conditions, or inflammation. they contain the same Cox 2 inhibitors as many of the NSAIDS, such as ibuprofen. The nuts you crave, are high in protein, which supply amino acids, and omega 3 fatty acids. Fatty acids feed the brain, skin, hair, and joints, to keep them well. Amino acids, feed the muscles, tendons, and brain. The salt contained in the nuts, could be a magnesium deficiency. Do you crave other salty foods? This could be a clue, as our american diet does not contain enough magnesium. Are you dehydrated? Eating salt, helps the body to retain water. (think of gatorade)
So therefore we would binge on that food, or crave it, because our body is not satisfied.
