Is there any happiness in self happiness??

I mean... is there really happiness in pursuing one's own desires? Rather than happiness in pleasing others in complete disregard of selfishness. I don't mean in the social aspect of friends and social crowds. I mean this in the aspect of family. All my life, my parents have dictated what I ought to do. The Course I should take in school. My religion. Key aspects of life that any individual enjoys by choice. And I have worked to satisfy their dictations. However, I have come to a point I want to achieve my own dreams. Should I?? if I do, I lose my family. So really, is there happiness in that?

Some. By going after your own goals and dreams, you achieve a sense of accomplishment, self-esteem boost, and a short sense of happiness. But the best happiness comes from other people. It stays with you longer, and can make you smile with just a thought. When you find a partner to help and go with you in life, a new world of happiness arrives. Then with the birth of your first born, the sun shines, but can be covered by clouds.
Before you cut off from your family, make sure you have a good support group who will help you through your trials. Two or three good friends, a husband/wife, etc.

    Life is a (personal) journey.
Who gives your parents instructions on how to live their lives?
One knows they have reached "adulthood" when (they) make their (own) decisions. It's one thing to be offered some advice but in the end you have the final say. The best way for a parent to access how well they have done "preparing" their child is by (observing) the way he or she conducts their life as an adult. Oftentimes parents don't view their children as "adults" until after they move away and no longer rely on them for financial assistance.
It's your life! Take the wheel!

Follow your own bliss. In the end you can say you did it your way. No one can live your life for you. You will have your own experiences. Do what is best for you. If you do what others want you to do, you are not living your truth or your soul essence. They cannot and will not take responsibility in the end. Freedom to choose is one of the greatest gifts of life. Choose wisely.

that's true dashingscorpio and Sri T. I have come to learn, since this last post that life cannot be dictated by the opinions and dreams of others. If it were so, we would live in  each oher and make decisions for each other. God would not create individuality so intricately. Iburmaster I cannot ignore your convictions. I t is true. Life is enjoyed through the sentimentals of giving and loving and sharing. But I cannot find happiness in others if Happiness in myself is lacking. I must first seek it in myself so as to be able to serve others.
