"Anger is the mask that hurt wears"
When people are hurt they either cry or they yell/shout. For the most part our society looks at crying as being a sign of "weakness" while anger is seen as coming from a place of "strength".
Both responses are the result of someone feeling they were taken advantage of, disrespected, or their feelings were not taken into consideration. We fight/argue in order to establish boundaries.
Sometimes people yell because they are (losing) an argument. Their logic is flawed so they resort to yelling in hopes of "intimidating" the other person enough to "give in" and let them have their way or at the very least shut them up.
This tactic may work a few times but eventually the other person catches on. He or she decides to find someone else who is more mentally balanced or they learn to walk on egg shells in order to avoid the raft of your anger. In some instances people choose to fight fire with fire. They need for there to be a winner and a loser.
At any rate the vast majority of fights/arguments are over small stuff. It helps to ask yourself; "Is this a deal breaker?"
The reality is you are more likely to receive (empathy) by explaining the pain you felt when this person did whatever. Attacking someone usually puts them on the "defensive" and keeps them from entertaining the possibility that they may have used poor judgment. It escalates into a battle of wills and ego clashes.
