No, I don’t think that it should be banned. It is a part of our history and has nothing to do with race whatsoever. Only the idiots who misunderstand what the Civil War was really about use the Confederate Flag as a symbol of "white pride”.
Understanding that the war was about each state’s right to govern independently of a federal power is the answer to whether or not the flag is racist in any way. The war was about trade. The north found that it was unfair that the south did not have to pay its workers while the north did. The South was not fighting on behalf of hatred against blacks (though, many there had a lot of course) ,they were fighting for the right to do what they wanted to do.
The Confederacy represents individuality between states and is defiance against central ruling powers. The KKK started using it and marred its history, agreed, but still, it is a part of everyone’s history and we simply cannot begin to start hiding our history.
Those that forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
