POTUS has said marijuana should be legal.. It is in several states. We hear about medical marijuana, being good, but do you want doctors, pilots, truck drivers smoking it and working?
sort by best latest
Shouldn't we should be OK with this because marijuana is supposed to enhance abilities, relax you and help you think? I read and article that said so.
I am not sure if you read the question or not, but if they smoke the joint 10 minutes b4 they do surgery on you then couldn't that potentially affect you? or r u sayin that it is ok as long as that 10 minutes b4 they were technically off duty? lol
my point being the question is silly. Of course not, but where did the President say it was safe to smoke it "10 minutes" before? Most rational people don't drink, use drugs etc 10 minutes before work, if they do on their own time, I could care less.
Thats the great thing about hubpages; if u think it is a silly question, u don't have 2 answer it. U have never taken a philosophy class if u think this is a silly question. I guess Socrates was dumb for telling the "Analogy of a Cave" 2 Glaucon? lol
I think I saw that study. Wasn't it performed by "High Times"?
Where I live it's legal. Do you feel the same about liquor store owners?
I do not think that it should be legal anywhere.
The store owners are just the ones in-between. For alcohol it is the makers and users.
Many years ago when it was declared illegal it was because the US didn't want the Mexican folks bringing it here - not because it was harmful, but for political reasons. All these years it has been a sham.
The cartels are growing pot on government lands in California. Very inventive.
After seeing what does to people, even those who do not use it but are too close, I believe that it is harmful.
Examiner - I respect what you believe. There are many things that are harmful - like all the crap in our foods, the air we breath, what some companies dump into our rivers. As long as we are apathetic we will get what we do not deserve. .
RBJ33 - I know, I am working on checking the foods everyday, online and in the supermarkets. I am beginning to wonder if anything will be safe to eat soon.
That's good Examiner! But, are you also "participating' by writing to your representatives, and signing petitions? Or are you one of the apathetic ones?

And they should all be illegal, don't you think?
They are trying but they cannot keep up with them all. I read how a certain food is healthy and then how that same food is unhealthy. Then I finally read how it is healthy for some but not for ones with certain diseases.
I don't want to even smell smoke from a cigarette on a doctor going into surgery.
Hear much about using pot to relax, take away pain and the like. Seldom hear anything about performing technical work, I always want to know the other side..
Tell us how you would know whether they were accustomed to it, or if it was the first one.
You wouldn't, but then you wouldn't know if they had smoked in the first place so that is rather moot. Pot doesn't debilitate one's motor skills or concentration and I wouldn't be worried about it. I want my Dr to follow their normal behavior period
I would have thought this would be 100% no's, but I guess since this is such a political hot button right now, people would rather side with what their political party tells them to say instead of using common sense.
There are alot of things I don't want my doctor doing before surgery. Including argue with his/her spouse. One of my acquaintances swears there are no effects from pot.
So then u r going 2 trust that acquaintance and say u r ok w/ a dr smoking marijuana 10 minutes b4 surgery?
