You MAY find relief in a good chiropractor (although I admit they are hard to find when you do get a good one it's well worth it!) Acupuncture may be another route you could consider. And of course there are exercises you can do that will strengthen the muscles in your back and allow them to hold the discs in place better. (You can ask the doctor that diagnosed you to send you to a physical therapist to learn these if you wish.) If you are capable of doing any of these exercises you definitely should. They do help.
