Why do 74% of newly insured Republicans LIKE Obamacare?

A recent Commonwealth Fund survey obtained those results, which are in line with several other polls.

Obviously the Democrats are slipping something into their medications.

More seriously, this is an obvious conclusion to anyone who hasn't bought into the far right mythology. If you do something for people, people like it. This isn't rocket science. Every objective measure I have seen, suggests that the law is working as planned.

Some in the GOP tried hard to sell the idea that health insurance is somehow bad for you. People didn't believe them and went out and bought a product they are happy with.

Add that to the recent evidence that Medicare spending has slowed and things start to look up even more.

None of this is likely to penetrate the wall of delusion on the right, but for the rest of us, it is good news.

I think this is a great example of “don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.” People try it and the like the feeling of security it brings to them. One day a woman in my office was really knocking Obamacare (she, of course, fell under the secure umbrella of state employees insurance like the rest of us). I told her that I was all for it and she asked why. I replied that my son who was uninsurable because of a potentially fatal autoimmune disorder is now insured. She got a funny look on her face and said, “oh.” I never heard another word about it from her, and I think this is just typical. She had never thought out the implications behind, and results of, Obamacare. She was just parroting the party line.
I’m hoping that these people who were so against it and now like it will stop and think that possibly they really are being sold a bill of goods about other parts of the anti-Obama agenda.

Obamacare was not designed as a partisan concept. It was to make health care more affordable and more readily available to millions of people who otherwise could never afford to buy health insurance.
Those states that have refused to accept Obamacare are denying millions of Americans affordable health care. This kind of partisan behavior is nothing more than an exercise in obstructionism, and is an attempt to show corporate America that the GOP will back them at any cost to the individual citizen.
Even corporate America is beginning to see this obstructionism as a political faux pas.
That 74% of Republicans that you referenced are the "normal" republicans who know a good thing when they see it.

True, probably a good number of that 74% have relatives who were uninsurable because of pre-existing conditions or who could not afford the high price tag.
