You can't have one without the other.
Having confidence builds self-esteem. However there is a difference between being confident, having self-esteem, and being narcissistic.
Loving yourself is different from being "in love" with yourself.
It was suppose to say conceited. This phone is killing me. Thank you for the response.
As dashingsorpio said, your self-esteem is tied to condifence in and love for yourself.
To avoid conceit, remember that you are only human and mortal; those two qualities tend to bring us back on path.
Also, practice recognizing the worth in others and build them up as you build up yourself. Not only will you make great friends, but you'll begin to see yourself through their eyes - usually in a good light.
Silent.....It seems you may be a little confused or have used the wrong word. Self-esteem=confidence=self esteem.
I'm just guessing but could it be that you meant to ask, "How to raise self-esteem without becoming egotistical?"
There's quite a difference. Egotistical individuals do not need more self-esteem...nor more SELF-anything, actually. They're pretty much "full of them selves" to the max. Most EGO-maniacs usually could benefit by being knocked down a few pegs.....or at least off their self-constructed throne.
It seems to me this was the question you were intending.
I would reply, that you indeed have a "killer" phone for texting.
