What do you do to relieve stress when you can't go anywhere?

A great way for me to work off stress, is not going for a walk. It is stacking wood and moving it. You bet it is heavy, but it is also a stress reliever!

Look at a good movie. The computer has tons of them. Listen to music, again from the computer. Join a community of Hubbers or clean the house and do the laundry.

A great deal of work, including selfless service, can be done from home, using both the computer and the telephone. You may also wish to chat with friends and family, read a book, or learn a new language.

My favourite thing is being occupied in a spiritual way. There are lots to do here. Much peace.

I play fetch with my dog. He loves to run, and will go out of his way to take the longest route to the ball, and back to me. It makes me laugh!

I clean. Not the day to day cleaning, but the stuff we only clean a few times a year, like the ceiling. By cleaning this type of stuff I will feel accomplished which lowers my stress. .

I usually turn to music. My theory is that different types of music stimulate different areas of the brain and therefore affect emotions.
When I am angry or stressed, Al Green's greatest hits just makes me melt. There is something about the rhythm and beat and upbeat that takes all my stress away.
Beautiful music can lull me to sleep quickly. The soundtrack from Titanic does it for me.
Other music for other moods. Just experiment and you will find the right stuff.

It depends what time of the day/evening it is. During the day I write or do some Tai Chi I also watch the birds, etc. outside the windows. In the evening then I may meditate since I will be going to bed soon. I usually do not get stressed though.

I write, read HubPage articles, work out at the gym while listening to heavy metal music, or watch episodes of South Park.

Work off stress? You've got to be kidding. My middle name is "Stress". I wouldn't know how to function not stressed out. LOL My way of unwinding is to pick up my Kindlefire and read a book,. Sometimes I check out a book from the library, but I am spoiled to ebooks because the print can be adjusted for fading eyes. I usually have a novel going, but I have studied metaphysics since the mid-1970s and I find that picking up one of my metaphysical books and reading is a good unwinder, especially if I follow along with any meditations.
Since I have chronic fatigue, the exercise route uses up too much of what little energy I have, and watching TV just revs me up more.

I am very much a homebody so I don't encounter that kind of stress.  However, I can imagine there's lots to do if one becomes stir crazy.  One can browse the internet, write a blog on this site, get on Facebook, etc.  One can also read a riveting novel or try to watch an intriguing show on the 500 channels or more on television.  There's always the telephone to be used to call family and friends for entertainment.  The more productive among us can use this time to clean house.

If I can't drive, which is my best stress relief by far, I find about ten minutes and a quiet place and just take a nap.  A power nap does wonders for me.  I generally can get my thoughts straight and figure out the next move I want to make.

If one nap doesn't work, I try two of them....lol.

Play outdoor games such as football, cricket, etc. If you don't get time to play outdoor then go for hoop dance, if you are not familiar with hoop dance then read this to know about it:- http://www.hoopgirl.com/about/the-workout/. You must also be social and meet new people by traveling to different tourist spot places.

To relieve stress when I can't go anywhere I workout or just think of something relaxing. Thinking about the beach makes me feel relaxed. Yard work can be relaxing but I do it because it needs to be done. I don't do it to relieve stress. Lifting heavy things, doing intense cardio or just sitting still and meditating are all great ways to relieve stress.
