The flu is only caught by adults about once every five years. The rest of the time what we think is the flu is actually just nasty viruses that are carried by schoolchildren and office workers. This is the result of blood tests taken by Health Canada and analyzed over the years to see what proportion of adults actually get influenza. Other people who think they have flu may just have chronic fatigue, suffer from allergies or celeriac disease etc. All things that appear to be flu. In women flu like symptoms are often early warning of heart issues too!
They were trying to find out if the cost of mass inoculations were worthwhile. I would say not, as in any given year 80% plus of the vaccinations are wasted. 80% as the adults would not have caught flu anyway and plus the times that the wrong vaccine is made as the flu virus changes before it is made up and given.
In my view we are way better off eating to boost our immune systems and not taking the vaccine, and I am of an age and suffer from asthma, so that I m considered to be high risk and therefore should get it. However I have only ever had bad flu, each time I actually did get the shot!
Do I think the season is over? It is in Nova Scotia Canada, but then there are always a few who will succumb after the vast majority of victims have recovered
