Yes and no if that makes any sense. COPD has no known cure just yet, but there are certain medicines and daily actions a person can do to make them feel better or slow down the progression of the disease. Yes COPD will just progress on, but sometimes you can prolong that with certain choices you make. Medicines are out there to slow it down, but you will have to do some things on your part as well. Quit smoking is the biggie everyone with COPD should do. That will just worsen the symptoms and make you feel more like crap. I mean if someone has severe COPD, they may be able to get a lung tranplant, but the evaluation process is usually long and complicated, and even than you may not get one. I know if you have cancer, heart, liver, or kidney disease you may not be able to get one at all, and if you would continue to smoke you defiantly will not be considered. As of 2012, only 55% of the patients have survived 5 years after the surgery.
