I was "relieved of duties" from a high powered job as a career counselor for a business school. It hurt deeply, mostly because I missed the graduation of students with whom I had worked for months teaching them new skills and helping them find suitable jobs. It was clearly a political move on the part of management to get rid of me after I refused to falsify the statistics on monthly reports to make them look better.
After a few false starts elsewhere, I found a much better job with a global company which prompted me to learn new skills and move out of my comfort zone.
I wish you the best in whatever career you pursue going forward.
