Do you support Obamacare?
Yes, No, Not sure
That is all you have to comment.
I don't know why you ask yes/no questions like this. A better question might be.... What parts of the ACA (Obamacare) need improvement, and how should these improvements be structured?
Your question, as worded is just asking for a yes, or a no. You might get better responses if you ask for constructive open ended ideas.
I am just looking for a pulse on Obamacare. My experience is that it isn't working, but I am looking to get the opinion of others and compare their experience.
Yes, but part of the reason I'm voting for Hillary is that I think she is capable of fixing the problems with it. She's been interested in health care reform for more than 20 years, all the way back to when she was first lady.
I wonder why Obama didn't make her VP so she could work on healthcare for him? Thanks
Before the Affordable Care Act, I had no insurance, because premiums for a woman my age were roughly equivalent to my monthly mortgage payment. Since I'm self-employed, obtaining health insurance meant paying the full premiums, without an employer subsidy. It would essentially require me to take on the equivalent of a second mortgage payment. How many people can realistically do that?
Did I mention I had cancer while uninsured? I wouldn't wish that particular hell on anyone, because while you have a ticking time bomb in your body, all the doctors and hospitals want to know is how you're going to pay for treatment---and, as one of my father's cancer nurses put it, "those who can't pay, die".
After the Affordable Care Act? I now have insurance I can afford. I have a primary care physician, and have had my first physical in over a decade. I can afford to see my doctor, and to pay for my medications. Nobody could turn me down for insurance because I've had cancer. If my disease recurs, I won't have to wonder if I'm going to lose my house or die before I get treatment.
Of course I support the Affordable Care Act (not Obamacare, because there's no such thing). I hope our next president makes improvements to it, and that we eventually move toward a less profit-based health care system.

Many people die from the hospital system even if they can pay. My premiums went up 30% this yr, without using it. Health care quality has not improved from what I have seen. I agree, medical for profit doesn't seem to work. High Deductible?
Thx
Overall my answer would be yes.
Personally it does not effect me since I get health insurance through my employer. However I like the fact that those who didn't have access to insurance or may have been denied due to a pre-existing condition can get it. I've also known co-workers who were happy they could keep their adult children on their insurance up to age 25.
This helped them out especially if recent college grads had difficulty finding a job. Lack of health insurance is one of the leading causes of bankruptcy these days.
By no means is the Affordable Health Care Act perfect. Trump states he's in favor of a single payer program similar to Canada!
It's unlikely the nation would be in favor of adding that tax liability on top of Medicare and Social Security.
Unfortunately some employers have opted to go with plans that raise employee contributions in order to cut expenses for themselves. This also allows them to place the blame on Obamacare rather than have their employees be infuriated with them.
Truth be told in most companies insurance rates or contributions by employees have been going up prior to the new law.
Companies are always looking for ways to (cut employee benefits) which are (expenses) to them. I use to work for companies that matched 401k contributions dollar for dollar up to the first 6%.
Today you'd be lucky to get a 25 cents match for each dollar.
It is sad when parents have to provide for children when they are adults. It says how bad the economy is when new college grads can't make a living. Govt employees have the best retire, health ins, time off, job security. UE c/n pay 4 insurance

I have been listening to how the government has a billion dollars for getting people to sign up for the Affordable Healthcare Act. Would that money have been better spent training more doctors and building new hospitals? New Jersey has closed how many community hospitals in the last few...

Can anyone explain the Affordable Care Act to me?I was honestly going to make a Hub about this, asking this very question, and I had written 800 something words on the subject. Ok actually it's more like a mild rant, but I think this would be better as a Hubpages question rather than a Hub that no...
