ACA is corporate welfare that continued Bush 43's expansion of Medicare Part D by giving USA drug companies a sweetheart deal. The job of government is to protect the people. We have police, fire and well maintained roads for the protection of the people. Someone said that buying health care is like buying a TV- it isn't - it is not a product that you will die from lack of. Healthcare is a need that the gov't is morally required to provide. Having a for-profit system of health insurance that rests on the backs of death, disease and pain is immoral and evil and should be eliminated.
Perhaps the best introduction to the Kaiser HMO and Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program is the summary by Edgar Kaiser that the less Kaiser does for patients the more money it makes.
Ehrlichman: “… the less care they give them, the more money they make.”
President Nixon: “Fine.” [Unclear.]
Ehrlichman: [Unclear] “… and the incentives run the right way.”
President Nixon: “Not bad.”
In 2005 the United States and the other member states of the World Health Organization signed the World Health Assembly resolution 58.33, which stated that nations should "transition to universal coverage of their citizens... with a view to sharing risk among the population and avoiding catastrophic health-care expenditure and impoverishment of individuals as a result of seeking care."
Compared to the 34 nations of the OECD, the United States had the third highest rate of infant mortality (behind Turkey and Mexico),
Then again: There isn't a single government agency or division that runs efficiently; do we really want an organization that developed the U.S. Tax Code handling something as complex as health care?
I think people look at the VA in horror - radical right-wingers say that - 'they signed up for it, they knew the consequences and therefore they knew ahead of time what they are getting into'. All gung hung for war but not for the aftermath of taking care of our disabled vets.
A true shame.
