My mom gradually went from full caffeine coffee to part decaf to all decaf. For me, I really like coffee, but I only really need the caffeine after lunch. So I will just drink decaf the rest of the day, except after lunch. Another thing is to buy caffeine pills. You may realize it is the taste or feeling of coffee or soda that you really like, not the caffeine, and then you can start buying decaf. In the morning, I find that the sweetness of orange juice helps me wake up almost as well as coffee.
