I lost 35 pounds using the Weight Watchers plan a few years ago. As I understand, they have since changed the plan slightly, but I found it worked really well.

I think the key to using a program like this is to understand that it is more a lifestyle than a diet –– a way of learning to eat in a different way.

I'd definitely recommend it to people to try. As I said, it worked really well for me.

    Best of luck!

Yes. And Slimming World which is a type of weight watchers alternative here in the UK. The biggest lesson I learned is that it is not the diet that you do but your motivation and desire for change that really makes the difference. Try to fundamentally alter your lifestyle and if you can, you will see the pounds drop away!

I think what makes Weight Watchers work is that they really teach you to make conscious choices about what you are eating.  Otherwise, go over your daily points.  This is not a diet.  It is eating healthy choices and healthy portion sizes.

I haven't mainly because I have an issue with paying someone to starve me. LOL.

A lot of people seem to find that it works. The real issue is what you do after you stop the program - can you maintain the good eating habits?

My personal view would be to look at your diet/lifestyle (maybe see a dietitian) and work out what needs to change and change those habits progressively. There are lots of books out there about nutrition (ignore the fad diet ones!)
