Bugs In Your Bed

Believe it or not but a lot of people have bugs in their bed and don't even know it! I know it sounds so gross and gives me the willies but it's true. You need to get rid of bed bugs asap before you have an infestation on your hands.

What are bed bugs?

Bedbugs (bed bugs) are small nocturnal insect that live by feeding on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded organisms (knows as hosts).

Bugs....In My Bed?

How do I know if I have them?

Bed bugs are nocturnal creatures being at their most active just before dawn. They are about as quick as ants but tend to be slower if they are engorged from feeding (that would be your blood inside)

How To Tell If You Have Bed Bugs

If you have noticed little bites on your body after a nice restful sleep you may have bed bugs. Bed bug welts can occur singularly or in multiples(depending on how many little critters you have). You can identify a bite by looking closely, if you see a distinctive linear pattern marking the paths of blood vessels running close to the surface of the skin, then sorry to tell you, you have bed bugs.

Also look for blackish reddish fecal matter, it can be located anywhere in or around the bed area.

30% of people who had bed bugs didn't even know it until it was too late. These people didn't have any bites or any signs that there were bed bugs living in their bed.

If you see house centipedes or fire ants scurrying around your home chances are they are feeding on bed bugs. Both insects are known to feast on bed bugs, beware though, centipedes give a nasty sting and red ants aren't any better!

Not everyone has them, so you don't need to worry. Just be watchful, especially if you're staying somewhere! Never hurts to check the seams of the mattress :) I always say, 'It's better to be safe than sorry!"

Now, 4 years later, I have been living bedbug free. I would like to briefly share my experience with the hope that it will help someone else. My fiancé & I were living in one of those brick apartment buildings with the paper thin walls/floors/ceilings. The individuals in the apartment above us, for about 6 months, were stacking; there were anywhere from 6 to 10 of them living in a tiny 1-bedroom. Anyway, they moved out & we breathed a sigh of relief since the noise at 3 o'clock in the morning had finally stopped. Then I (not my fiancé) started getting these bites up & down my arms & on my fingers. I had bites on my stomach, my face, & around my ankles as well; I thought they were mosquito bites but were even itchier. I couldn't sleep one night & went to sleep in the living room. In the morning, we saw a bug crawling up the wall. We looked it up on the Internet & it was a bed bug. Thus began months of exterminating treatments and cleaning. FYI, exterminator told us that travelers to India should be particularly cautious.

Bed bugs really are horrible things! Of course they are only doing what they are born to do, but that doesn't make it anymore pleasant for people sharing a bed with them.

I just wrote a bed bugs removal guide if you are interested in taking a look, but there is some great information on this lens. Rated 5*
