Scientific name of geranium is Pelargonium graveolens and its floral aroma is sweet and intense. There are many beneficial powers and healing properties of geranium which I have listed below. Geranium’s floral aroma is intensely sweet just like rose and therefore geranium is good for physical and emotional balancing. Geranium belongs to Geraniaceae family of flowering plants. It is interesting to note that there are up to 500 species of geranium, but geranium essential oil is extracted from a very few varieties of this really aromatic plant, particularly Pelargonium. Pelargonium is a very attractive perennial plant that is just 1/2 meter tall and often grows as an annual plant. Pelargonium has wavy edged leaves and pink posies. Pelargonium leaves are aromatic flowers. Pelargonium oil has a scent of rose which is very sweet, soft, and earthly. Geranium essential oil is extracted by distillation of its leaves and flowering tops.

      It's not a surprise only for you but for many because geraniums are so common just opposite to edelweiss that are declared protected species and are found only on high altitude areas.

      Geranium essential oil is really beneficial and is common in the list of aromatherapy essential oils.
