Best Facial Sunscreen

Best Facial Sunscreen Reviews

As a fair skinned mom of three kids that burn just as easily as I do, I have finally found the best facial sunscreen. Below I review the best daily facial sunscreen and the best waterproof facial sunscreen.

I have extremely fair skin. I can burn in a matter of minutes. I also have extremely sensitive skin and suffer from numerous skin allergies as well as eczema. I've always been very diligent with caring for my skin when out in the sun. These reviews are based off my own personal experience with these facial sunscreens. If these sunscreens work on my very fair and sensitive face, then I feel confident they will work for just about anyone.

Best Facial Sunscreen for Daily Use - This is the best facial sunscreen for every day use

Neutrogena Age Shield Face sunblock is absolutely the best daily facial sunscreen money can buy. I have super fair skin. My nose burns in just 10 minutes out in the summer sun. With this Neutrogena sunscreen for the face, my nose never ever burns.

It is a liquid sunscreen instead of a cream. Shake the bottle, then drop about 4 drops in the palm of your hand. Use your fingers to apply it. Neutrogena Age Shield Face sunblock goes on super fast and easy. I use it on my face, neck, and ears. This particular sunscreen is intended for daily use. It goes on seamlessly under makeup, in fact it should replace your daily moisturizer. It certainly replaced my pricey anti-aging moisturizer.

Since it is completely clear and non-greasy once on it is a good sunscreen for men to wear too.

Other Good Daily Facial Sunscreens - Daily moisturizers with sunscreen

Neutrogena Age Shield is my absolute favorite facial sunscreen for daily use, but here are five other great choices.

Best Waterproof Facial Sunscreen - Best facial sunscreen that's waterproof

I love Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunblock. The name ultra sheer is a great way to describe this product. It goes on smoothly with an ultra light, non greasy feel. It feels more like an expensive hydrating lotion than it does a sunscreen. I use this facial sunscreen when I go to the pool or beach since it's waterproof. It goes on well under makeup, but not quite as well as the daily sunblock I previously reviewed.

The ultra sheer consistency goes on fast and easily. I was surprised how quickly I had all three of my little ones covered from head to toe with Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunblock when even applying spray on sunscreens can be a challenge. I like that it's non-greasy so you don't look, feel, or smell like you're wearing sunscreen. The protection is also amazing with this product. I never burn when I have it on.

When Ultra Sheer sunscreen first came out I think I remember it saying it was for the face, but now it is placed with the rest of the sunscreens. It doesn't bother my extremely sensitive facial skin and it never stings my eyes.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Water Resistant and Non-Greasy Sunscreen Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 55, 3 fl. oz
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Water Resistant and Non-Greasy Sunscreen Lotion with Broad Spectrum SPF 55, 3 fl. oz

Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 55 gives you the best of both worlds: Helioplex, the strongest and most stable UVA sun protection, and Neutrogena’s Dry Touch technology, which provides superior skincare aesthetics in one lightweight lotion. It is waterproof, sweat proof, and will not run into eyes.

I use the Olay lotion with high SPF. Have to be careful with my (very sensitive ) skin, but will try some of these out. Always looking for good sun protection products.

@Wendy Leanne: Great! Thanks so much for the help. I'm on way to the store to get them now. :-)

@anonymous: I think it's just the Neutrogena sunscreen is that effective, if I reapply several times throughout the day. I am very fair, but am 1/8 Native American, and do have the ability to get quite dark. I used to tan regularly, but then had a skin cancer removed from my back when I was 29. I never tanned again. I've learned to embrace my fair skin. Since switching to the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer I've also noticed very few new freckles over the past several years and I used to get many new freckles each summer.

Great, thanks so much! I'll def try them out. :-)

Do you think the lack of tan for you is because of the effectiveness of the sunscreen or simply because of your skin?

Sorry about all the questions, I'm just very desperate. I'm a very outdoorsy person but the next few photoshoots I'm about to do require my skin to be tanless.

Any other recommendation or tips would be great.

@anonymous: I only tan when I try very hard. I must spend lots of time, days in a row, in direct sunlight and not reapply sunscreen in order to tan. As long as I reapply sunscreen every 2 to 3 hours, I don't tan or freckle at all.

As for the body, I love the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer with Helioplex for my whole body. It feels fabulous, more like a moisturizer than a greasy sunscreen, yet it's just as effective.

You've got some great recommendations here! I know you said you don't burn with the Neutrogena. What about tanning though? Is your complexion still the same? I'm a model so I have to be very careful about tan lines.

Could also recommend a good sunblock for the body?
