The Best LUSH Products for Psoriasis and Eczema

Updated on November 6, 2011

LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics has many natural skincare products that can help ease the symptoms of psoriasis, eczema, and dry, itchy skin!

Psoriasis is a tough disease to beat. Even with medical treatment, symptoms may still be present. For those of us seeking natural, healthy, alternative treatments for psoriasis or other dry, itchy skin conditions, LUSH Cosmetics is a life-saver! Their handmade bath products help soften and soothe irritated skin. These are my favorite products to help treat my psoriasis naturally!

All of these reviews are based on my own personal experience. Your personal experience with each product may vary. This guide is not intended to be a substitute for medical advice or treatment.

Tips for Bathing with Psoriasis or Eczema

Personal care can be troublesome when your skin is sore and itchy. I find that baths are far more beneficial than showers for taking care of my psoriasis. You can soak with soothing herbs and oils and then gently exfoliate to remove dead skin. Baths are also very relaxing and stress-reducing, which can do wonders for your health! Here are a few tips to make sure your bath is as delightful as possible!

  • Don't let the water get too hot. Very hot water can dry out your skin and possibly irritate any inflamed areas.
  • Gather all the goodies you need for your bath beforehand (including your lotion for after the bath.) It's annoying to have to hop out of the tub to grab something you forgot!
  • Let the other members of your house know you will be taking a bath and do not wish to be disturbed (this is especially important if you only have one bathroom!)
  • Towel off by very gently blotting your skin with a soft towel. Do not rub or scrub your skin.
  • Apply lotion and/or skin oils immediately after bathing.
  • If your skin is very sensitive, do a patch test before trying a new product (this is an especially good idea when trying an exfoliant!)

LUSH Bath Bombs: Soak Away Stress and Soften Skin

Butterball Bath Bomb

Butterball contains chunks of cocoa butter and has a lovely vanilla scent. The cocoa butter relaxes and moisturizes dry, itchy skin. My only complaint is that it is a bit small; you might want to use two, or pair it with a bath melt or bubble bar!

Big Blue Bath Bomb

Big Blue is one of my absolute favorite bath bombs. The scent is amazing and it turns the water a lovely ocean blue! It contains coarse sea salt and real bits of seaweed, as well as relaxing lavender and lemon oils. I always feel great after bathing in Big Blue. It's the next best thing to a real dip in the ocean!

Golden Slumbers Bath Bomb

This bath bomb is the ultimate for relaxation! It contains lavender which not only smells wonderful, it will soothe sore skin and help you sleep restfully. I slept soundly for about 12 hours after using this! I recommend pairing it with a Dreamtime Bath Melt!

Moisturizing Soaps to Gently Cleanse and Soften Skin!

Porridge Soap

Porridge contains bits of oatmeal (great for sore, sensitive skin) and has a super yummy mapley scent!

Snowcake Soap *Seasonal Product Only!

Snowcake is my favorite LUSH soap. It is creamy and soothing, cleanses well, smells great, and always calms my irritated skin. I even use it as a facial cleanser! It is only sold during the winter holiday season, so be sure to stock up!

Dreamwash Shower Smoothie

If you prefer cream washes to bar soap, Dreamwash is a fantastic choice! It contains chamomile and calamine to sooth itchy skin.

Slough away dead skin and help heal rough patches with LUSH's exfoliation products!

Ocean Salt

Ocean Salt is a fantastic product. It contains sea salt with some mild astringents and rich avocado and coconut butters. Due to the salt content, it can be a little strong for skin that is very sore, so save it for days when you're feeling okay but need to get rid of some dead skin and look your best!

Got scalp psoriasis or dandruff? LUSH makes the BEST shampoo ever!

Soak and Float Solid Shampoo

Unfortunately for many people, psoriasis can manifest as annoying scalp plaques and dandruff. Soak and Float solid shampoo is amazing. It completely eliminated my dandruff and itchy scalp! It smells smokey (think campfires or Lapsang Souchong tea) which turns some people off (I like it!), but the smell doesn't really linger on your hair. As a plus, this solid shampoo requires no packaging and is eco-friendly! I find one bar lasts me at least 4-6 months.

Veganese Conditioner

Of all of LUSH's conditioners, I have found that Veganese pairs best with Soak and Float. The scent is light and lemony, and it leaves your hair soft but never greasy!

Soothing, healing body creams & lotions by LUSH

Dream Cream Body Cream

This is my absolute favorite lotion of all time! Dream Cream is actually part of a collection of "Dream" products which were developed to combat troubled skin and provide soothing relaxation! It contains oat milk, chamomile, rose, lavender, and other ingredients to soothe your skin. It really is as good as it gets!

Other Beneficial LUSH Goodies

Dreamtime Bath Melt

Turn any bath into a soothing moisturizing soak! This is another member of the "Dream" product line and is just as lovely and relaxing! Try it paired with your favorite bath bomb!
