Five of the Best Shampoos for Dry, Itchy Scalp

Fortunately, I don't suffer from a chronically dry, itchy scalp or dandruff. However, there are times, such as in the winter, when my scalp feels a little drier. One product I would like to mention is Head & Shoulders shampoo - it works wonders on an itchy scalp and leaves your hair soft and smelling minty fresh all day. Here are five of the best shampoos for dry scalp that will help get rid of dandruff and leave your hair visibly softer.

Shampoo for Dry Scalp: KeraCare

KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp Moisturizing shampoo for dry scalp is formulated to help relieve an itchy scalp and get rid of dandruff. It protects against dryness, detangles the hair to leave it feeling softer, and leaves the hair and scalp in a healthier condition. KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp Moisturizing shampoo is available in three sizes: gallon, 32 ounces, and eight ounce bottles. For even softer hair, try the KeraCare conditioner.

Shampoo for Dry Scalp: Head & Shoulders

Last, but not least, Head & Shoulders is a great product for an itchy scalp. As I mentioned earlier, I use Head & Shoulders occasionally and love how it leaves my hair feeling soft and smelling fresh. (I actually use it sometimes whether my scalp is dry or not.)

Natural Remedies for Dry Scalp

If you prefer to try something more natural than clinical strength shampoos, here are a few natural remedies you might like.

  • Tea tree oil. You could try tea tree oil shampoo, or simply add 10-20 drops of the essential oil to a mild shampoo and massage into your scalp.
  • Lemon juice. Apply the juice directly to your scalp and leave in for five minutes before shampooing.
  • Apple cider vinegar. Rinse your hair with water and let it dry. Then mix equal parts ACV and water in a spray bottle and spray it onto your head. Wait a few minutes, then rinse and shampoo as normal.
