Discover the Best Teeth Whitening Toothpaste 2014

Updated on September 4, 2014

The best toothpaste for whitening teeth is only a "bite" away

Do your choppers look more like grey gravel than teeth? If so, you are not alone. Millions of men and women, both young and old, suffer from embarrassment and shame due to their less-than-pearly whites. One of these many millions is my mother-in-law who now refuses to smile for fear that the people around her will pay more attention to her teeth than to her personality.

It goes without saying that this is no way to live. This is why I have compiled a list of the six best tooth whitening toothpaste products on the market today. With these products, you will be able to improve the physical appearance and health of your teeth, regaining your confidence and desire to smile once again!

1. Crest 3d White Glamorous Whitening Mint Toothpaste

See a difference in your teeth's whiteness in a matter of days

Crest makes the (almost) unbelievable claim that their Crest 3D White Glamorous toothpaste will remove 90% of stains on your teeth in a mere 5 days. Too good to be true? Apparently not. According to users, this product works just as it claims, removing tea, coffee, and tobacco stains and leaving your mouth feeling fresh and clean.

Of course, not everyone saw the same results in the same amount of time, but the unanimous consensus is that, with continuous use two times a day, it leaves your teeth far whiter than before. It is recommended that you use a good toothbrush along with this toothpaste to get the very best results.

2. Plus White Xtra Whitening Every Day Whitening Toothpaste - Formulated to remove even the toughest of teeth stains

Xtra Whitening, as you can tell by the name, has been specially formulated to remove any sort of embarrassing stain on your teeth, from tea to wine to tobacco. It contains fluoride which will protect your teeth from cavities, tartar and plaque, and leaves your mouth feeling fresh and clean every time you brush.

The question is, of course: does it work? According to a number of tea and coffee drinkers, heavy smokers and wine drinkers, it works very well. In fact, many users have received compliments from complete strangers on their teeth, and that's saying something!

3. Opalescence Cool Mint Whitening Toothpaste

Works had to remove stains from your pearly whites

Here we have a 100% natural whitening toothpaste from Opalscence. Unlike some of the other products shown here, this toothpaste can be used even on children ages 2 and up. It is one of the top toothpastes recommended by dentists for its effective tooth whitening system, but should be used only a couple of days a week as excessive use can cause the enamel to wear away. It leaves a fresh minty taste in your mouth, making ever toothbrushing experience a pleasure!

4. Rembrant Gentle White Mint Toothpaste, - Whitens your teeth while keeping canker soars at bay

Rembrant is another well-known toothpaste brand which has been particularly renowned for its canker-fighting technology by doctors and dentists. It does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate, one of the key ingredients in many toothpastes that causes aggravation in the mouth, but still manages to clean and prevent cavities. It is the only toothpaste on the market designed to whiten teeth and fight canker soars.

5. Mentadent Advanced Whitening Fluoride Toothpaste

A tooth whitening toothpaste that tastes good and delivers excellent results

The Mentadent brand is so well-loved among its users that, when many stores stopped carrying the product, they began ordering in bulk off the Internet. Amazon is one of the few online vendors that still sells Mentadent, and thank goodness - it is one of the top brands for dental care.

This product comes with a convenient pump dispenser which works far better than the traditional toothpaste tube, and contains baking soda and Peroxide, two necessary ingredients for keeping your teeth clean and healthy. What's more, it has a fresh mint flavour all users seem to love.

In terms of whitening, it will render your teeth a shade or two whiter with constant use. It certainly isn't as effective as, say, Crest or Xtra Whiteners, but I still consider it a worthy candidate for this "best of" list owing to the many other advantages it brings to the table.

6. Sensodyne Pronamel Gentle Whitening Toothpaste - Soothes and whitens even the most sensitive of teeth

Are you dying for a whiter smile but suffer from extreme sensitivity around the gums and teeth? If so, then Sensodyne's Pronamel Gentle White toothpaste is by far your best bet. It reduces sensitivity to hot and cold foods and drinks while protecting you from cavities, building up white tooth enamel, and protecting against acid erosion.

Keep in mind that this product will not make your teeth as white as some of the other products listed here, but most other tooth whitening toothpastes were not designed for sensitive mouths. Stick with Sensodyne, and you'll be fine!

William, you show your age. Does anybody rebemmer the Bedser twins?PS. I give up. There's a definite trend starting on this blog where my effort is going unappreciated. I've not drawn a picture today and this Bedser crack relieves me of any guilt I might have been feeling.
