BFST® (Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy)

Updated on March 25, 2013

Why is BFST® important?

The human body has this uncanny ability to heal itself when we're injured.

From the very first moment that our muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, fascia, or soft tissue are hurt, our bodies trigger an internal system that keeps a watchful eye on the injured tissue, while also providing the very best cellular processes at every stage of healing to give our injured tissue exactly what it needs.

And although this entire process is truly amazing and awe-inspiring, the entire act of healing needs time to get things right. Time, which ultimately demands our patience and understanding for the weeks, months and even years it will take to recover from our injuries.

In an ideal world we would love to give our bodies all the time that is needed to heal.

But what do we do when we simply don't have enough time to heal?

What if we don't have the time to stay home from work, or put our lives on hold?

What about the family we want to spend time with, kids we love to chase after, and lives we're meant to live?

There are of course plenty of methods out there intended to speed up the healing process, like...

  • NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
  • Cortisone (steroid) injections
  • Arthroscopic surgery, or surgical repair
  • And the list goes on...

But do these things really work with our bodies?
Or do they simply alter the natural state of things?

How long will NSAIDs work to reduce our pain? What kind or risks are we exposing ourselves to when we have regular cortisone injections? How much longer will we need to heal after surgery, and what are our chances of getting back to normal?

These are questions we always ask ourselves when we're injured, and they are questions that usually go unanswered.

We often hope for the best when we are injured, and take a leap of faith when we explore alternative methods of healing.

The truth is that our bodies aren't trying to hold us back when our injuries are swollen or inflamed. We go through that inflammatory process to stop our cells from dying. Cold Compression Therapy can even help to reduce our pain, and can get our injury under control fast.

But what do we do when the swelling is gone, but the pain is still there? What can be done when our tissue feels tight and we simply cannot move like we used to?

Once the swelling is gone our bodies are starving for the naturally occurring oxygen, nutrients, antibodies and energy available in our blood. Blood flow is like the life force of our bodies, and the healing process really takes off only when injured tissues receive proper blood flow.

So instead of stopping our inflammation with NSAIDs, or masking our pain with cortisone, why don't we just increase our natural blood flow?

This is where the advantages of BFST® (Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy) can really give our body exactly what it needs. BFST® is like our very own champion, and at times can even be an internal cheerleader... optimizing all of the good things in our body and sending even more oxygen, nutrients, antibodies and energy directly to the injured area. Increasing natural blood flow is the answer we are all looking for to speed up the healing process.

How can BFST® speed up my healing?

If you want to heal quickly you need to keep your blood flow moving constantly to bring in more oxygen, nutrients, antibodies and energy. But you also need to make sure your body is actively getting rid of cellular waste and toxins. This is where BFST® comes in, but what exactly is BFST® and how can it help to accelerate healing?

Movement promotes blood flow throughout the body and the body then responds to this activity by sending oxygen and nutrient-rich blood to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints. With that in mind BFST® is exactly what it seems - it's a therapy that substantially increases the flow of blood to your injury without the need to exercise your already damaged tissue.

Think about your injury as if it is a sponge that has dried out. Your damaged tissue is waiting there ready to absorb all of the benefits of increased blood flow but your body is unable to keep up with the demand of what your injured tissue needs. BFST® boosts your body's natural blood flow, delivering oxygen, nutrients, antibodies and energy directly to the source of your pain. Once you start receiving all of the benefits BFST® has to offer your damaged tissue becomes like a sponge that now has enough blood flow within reach to soak up everything good that is in your blood flow. Increased blood flow through BFST® also acts as a cleanser for your tissue, whisking away all toxins and cellular waste.

The promotion of blood flow for healing has been a standard medical therapy for centuries. Doctors, therapists and moms worldwide always use warmth as a means of increasing blood flow.

In the past, applied heat (like hot water bottles and other variations) has been used to soothe sore joints and muscles. The problem with this method of heat is that it only works on the skin and doesn't penetrate deep into the underlying tissue where most of the injured tissue really is. A warm bath is a similar concept that relies on the hot water to heat your skin, and your skin to heat the fat below the skin, and the fat to heat the muscle tissue, and so on. This method works to some extent, but it obviously requires a great deal of time to reach the deep tissue where your injury really is, if it even reaches that tissue at all!

BFST® is simply a new advancement to this age old therapy, with innovations that provide the deep healing your injury needs.

Conventional heat therapy methods (like hot water bottles and heating pads) promote blood flow on the surface of the skin through applied heat. Optimal BFST® deep healing is delivered via high-frequency electromagnetic waves that are absorbed directly into the soft tissue.

The very best BFST® results need to be delivered by a treatment method that will constantly send electromagnetic waves of energy deep into the body while providing a consistent treatment every time.

The Inferno Wrap® is the only product available on the market today that can achieve these kind of results. Consistent waves of electromagnetic energy are delivered to your injured tissue by the patented Energy Web® inside of the unit. This Energy Web® is flexible, forming around the body very comfortably within the plush, breathable neoprene wrap. The Inferno Wrap® is extremely easy to use... all you need to do is plug the device into a wall outlet and set your intensity level for treatment with the special signal controller.

Inferno Wraps® are the perfect tool for maximizing all the benefits of BFST® - they have been specifically designed for treatment of deep, soft tissue injuries.

      @anonymous: Hello C. Walker,

This is Danieca from MendMeShop. Thank you for your recent purchase of our Elbow Inferno Wrap.

You can open the Inferno Wrap up and place it on the back of your neck. You are not going to get the fit as you would if it was on the elbow but you will get all that BFST (Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy) has to offer as long as the energy webbing is directly over the area you are treating. I would not advise taking the energy webbing out of the wrap and putting it directly onto your skin, but you could certainly open the wrap up and place it against your neck.

If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us or take advantage of our wonderful service provided by our team of Product Specialists who are here to advise you on how to treat your injuries with our devices â including how long treatments should be and how frequently you should be treating.

      Best wishes,

      MendMeShop Advisor

      @anonymous: Hello Sujata,

I think you are on the right track in considering Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy to soothe the pain you are experiencing from your flare up of fibromyalgia pain in your shoulders, neck, head - including temporomandibular joint pain (tmj). Healthy blood flow is kind of like our body's mechanism to flush out toxins, promote good health within our muscles, tendons and soft tissues, and can be very effective in reducing pain. In your case, I believe Blood Flow Stimulation Therapy applied via an Inferno Wrap will do a great deal in relieving your pain and addressing some tension/achiness that you have in your shoulder and neck. For your purposes I would recommend either the Leg/Arm Inferno Wrap or the Back/Hip Inferno Wrap, as they are both very versatile and allow for treatment to be applied to many different areas of the body.

I hope I have been able to provide some useful information for you in treating your fibromyalgia pain. If you happen to have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to give us a call toll free at 1-866-237-9608 or you may phone us directly at 1-705-445-3505.

Best of Luck to you Sujata in Treating that Fibromyalgia Pain of Yours & Happy Healing!

I have had exacerbation of my fibromyalgia with lots of shoulder, neck, head and tmj pain since I started adult orthodontics. My fibro symptoms were completely gone from October 09 through February 10 with homeopathy, yoga and good nutrition. But with adult orthodontic work I am in lot of pain. Any Suggestions and comments from you about your product to increase the circulation for better healing are welcome.
