Creating A New Body: Fitness Equipment Or 'Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle'?

Updated on October 9, 2010

Skin-Tight Jeans Not Fitting? How To Go From Flab To Fat-Burning Fab

So, you are ready to create a new body for yourself, but you don't know where to start. You have enough common sense to know that fad diets don't work. You don't want to hurt your body with weight loss pills and potions. Perhaps you don't have the money to go for expensive Weider home gyms, elliptical exercise equipment, or an electronic treadmill. Where do you start?

Don't despair. You have loads of options. To lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you consume. It is as simple as that. Get active, and you won't have to opt for ridiculous starvation diets such as the cabbage soup diet.

Let's look at the different routes you can take to rev up activity levels:

1. More Fun Activities

Be creative. Make it fun. Pull in all your family members. You will all benefit in terms of burning belly fat! Go for bike rides. Go dancing. Get an inexpensive exercise ball or mini rebounder such as the Urban Rebounder. Go for long hikes. Yes, even humdrum home cleaning chores done energetically with some dancing music in the background, will help you to burn more calories.

2. Fat-Burning Books And Programs

There are many reputable burn-fat programs that are affordable, can be downloaded immediately, and allow you to reshape your body with as little as a set of dumbbells and a weight bench. If you get the right program, it can strip away all the fluff surrounding exercise and fat-burning, giving you just the meat you need to transform your body.

Look for experts who have been in the strength training, weight loss and burn-fat industry for many, many years. They know from experience exactly what you need to do to burn fat and keep the pounds off.

Forget about topular fad diets. They just lead to water loss and not real fat loss. In addition, these put your body's metabolism on a go-slow strike - the last thing you need if you want to lose weight fast. Well, what else is your body going to do if you put it on a starvation diet? Of course it is going to think: "Hey, I had better hold onto what I have here. Who knows when I will see a decent meal again?".

If you follow the principles in programs like 'Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle', you are far more likely to see sustainable results. What you want is to equip your body to become a lean, mean, calorie-burning machine. Yes, it won't happen overnight and you will have to sweat a bit to make it happen. But once the weight start to move, you won't be able to believe your eyes! A whole new you is waiting underneath all the flab.

3. Gym Membership

You know yourself. Some folks can do it on their own. Some can't. If you need the discipline and motivation of a gym membership, by all means go for it if you can afford it. This can be quite epensive, but that in itself can be another motivation factor. You know that if you don't go regularly, it will be a total waste of hard-earned money.

4. Fitness Equipment At Home

If you can go for this option, you may save yourself a whole lot of aggravation and expense in time. You will be able to exercise at any time of the day or night. You won't have to allow for travel time. You also won't need any special clothes. But, you will have to be able to discipline yourself to do your workouts at least three days a week.

The secret is to find something you really enjoy doing. If you hate your routine, you won't continue with it. If you can put the fun back into fitness, you will soon see the body you want in the mirror. Exercise isn't supposed to be a punishment.

If you enjoy being active, your kids are likely to pick up the habit from you. They will reap the benefits for the rest of their lives! Eperiment until you find what works for you.

Thanks so much for stopping by, alocsin! You are absolutely right. You have to be able to enjoy exercise and keep it fresh. Otherwise you won't feel like keeping it up! Good for you! And thanks for the vote.

Being creative is definitely important to me with fitness activities. Otherwise, I stop doing them and lose the benefits. Voting this Up and Useful.

Good to see you here, Betty! Thanks for your contribution. Yes, it is important to make fitness fun. If you find and activity you enjoy, you are much more likely to stick with it. It is even possible to turn the vacuum into a dancing partner with the help of some lively music - if you have to clean, why not get something more from it...

Great hub! I love going for a walk or exercising on the elliptical trainer. And I agree dancing can be a fun workout.
