      Excellent information!!!! I am a physician and I think all Indian physician should carry this in their office all the time. Another important information I learned from this is that, one portion of Dalia Khichadi( 1 MK Dalia and all the in gradient that we add to make it palliable/tasty) will have more calorie then one portion steamed rice( 1 plate). So before advising your patient to eat Dalia Khichadi all physician should make calorie count and advise on the portion too.

      As everyone has commented above, you have done a great job. I was looking for this kind of information and did not know it actually existed. I have one question, when you mention 1 sk of Palak Paneer, Dal Makhni etc, does it mean cooked like we Indians normally do with a bit of oil or ghee, onion, tomatoes and all the masala that goes with it, or your mean boiled or uncooked.       Hi Anita, Thanks a lot for all this information. Losing weight is a priority for me and I really needed this assistance. There is something called Sooji Rava. We make an upma out of it that is very easy to digest. Would it be possible for you to tell me the calorie count of 200 gms of that?

      Kindly indicate the measurement system at the beginning itself

      I have a problem in little details and quantity. I cannot guess how much 1 plate and katori size means.Also in some dishes I am skeptical as it does not give little details of quantity of ingredients used for it, example Boondi curd does not tell how much boondi contributes to that calories count.

      Otherwise its an excellent job. I actually have this in my favorites.

      Your site was helpful but ...the measurements are sometimes sketchy. For instance, an 18cm plate might hold anywhere from .5 to 2.5 cups of lemon rice. There is a big difference between the calories in .5 and 2.5 cups of anything...let alone lemon rice.

      dear poonam ,

      you know i was fat from my childhood but i am very concious about my look. and i managed myself accordingly' my a diet plan and strict to it , and please brisk walk for atleast 40 min a day , and make a diet plan and avoid parties if u can. eat oatmeal in the morning

      don't sit much and sleep in day time .try i have done so can u , best of luck.

      This is really great because it can be so difficult to find nutrition data on Desi food. I was wondering if anyone knows the calories in Aloo Dim Dupiaji? I am unsure what it may be called in Hindi or Urdu but that's what it's called in Bangla. It is a curry dish with boiled eggs and potatoes in a tomato gravy. I make it quite often because my family loves it, so I'd really like to know how many calories I am consuming when I indulge in this treat. Thank you very much.

      I also was wondering if anyone knew how many calories are in Bengali-style Tel Peda. I don't think the calories are the same as the peda listed above because I am sure that the one for above is a dhudh peda or perhaps kesari peda. The type I am requesting a calorie count on is made with rice flour, sugar and water, which is then patted into a palm-sized flat disk cake and then deep-fried in oil. Very tasty, although I am sure it's calorie amounts are similar to a Mc Donald's cheeseburger because of all the oil. If anyone know the amount or knows how to find the amount of calories, please do leave a post either here or message me. Thank you.

      I went online and searched several different mishti (sweets) recipes looking for anything using rice flour and sugar, no milk and similar processes such as frying. I found a calorie count and recipe for boondi laddoo which is a whopping 200 calories per laddoo and I guess that is what I am going to estimate that I ate for my tel peda today since I can't specifically find this actual type of peda anywhere online. Perhaps it may be called something else in Hindi, Urdu, or another language, but in Bengali a peda can mean any of several different cakes, cookies or mishti.

      Hello Anita. This is a fantastic, painstaking list you have made here.

      Just for the sake of reference, may I know if there are any standardized reference values that you have posted here? In other words, "how accurate are these values"? Please keep in mind that I'm only asking for the accuracy of the values, and not in doubt of your great work.

      I have printed out some items from the above list that I commonly consume in my house and put it up on the fridge!
