4-time Cancer Survivor Writes and Records "Where Hope Lives" for the American Cancer Society
"Where Hope Lives"
My name is Ryan Hamner, and I’m a 4-time survivor of cancer. As if I wasn’t blessed enough to survive cancer 4 times, and everything that came with it, I’ve also been blessed enough to have the opportunity to write a song for the American Cancer Society Hope Lodges. The song is called, “Where Hope Lives”.
This song is one that is very close to me, and I think that every cancer survivor that has been fortunate enough to stay at one of the American Cancer Society Hope Lodges, or anyone that has been affected by cancer for that matter, can instantly relate to this song. It’s the kind of song that you will hear and say, “Oh yes, I know what that’s like…I remember that!” It literally hit’s home, or “home away from home.”
In “Where Hope Lives”, I try to tell the story of a place where strangers randomly collide only to form relationships and bonds that can never be forgotten.
My memories of living at the Hope Lodge in 1997 and 1998 while undergoing a bone marrow transplant are ones that are bittersweet, ones that I’ll never forget and memories that impacted me for life.
In January, you’ll be able to see the song, “Where Hope Lives” in video format. I’m very excited! However, now you can check out the song via any music outlet.
I hope you will take the time to share the song with anyone affected by cancer.
