Notable Celebrity Yogis

The celebrities named above were all recognized for practicing yoga, either for health, spiritual, or fitness reasons. On the other hand, there are also those celebrities who have fully dedicated themselves into yoga, making it a part of their daily routine and lifestyle. These celebrities experience the impact of yoga in their craft, personal life, and their overall perspective of life, such that have deeply come to realize the impact of yoga in their lives.

Madonna

Madonna, or Madonna Louise Ciccone in real life, is one of the world's most popular pop star. Over the years, she has reinvented her music and style, which is also one of the reasons why she has garnered so many music fans and even been considered a pop music icon. But one of her biggest imprints and influence in the Hollywood scene would have to be her advocacy in practicing yoga.

One particular yoga technique that she has remained devoted to is Ashtanga Yoga. This is responsible for keeping her in top shape and fit. This particular style of yoga is characterized by dynamic movements and lots of transitions for a series of postures.

But on a deeper and spiritual aspect, yoga has taught Madonna a greater value in life. She looks at it as a metaphor that represents the need for patience in partaking in every stage or aspect instead of being too hasty and proceeding onto the next step in yoga. This has enabled her to gain more control over her life instead of being overcome with her impulses.

Clare Welch

Clare is a theater actor whose craft has benefit from yoga in a major way. Hence, it defies the myth that yoga is a pure physical experience as it has enabled her to improve her concentration ability and mental capacity. Indeed, anyone who has performed on-stage will tell you that it is never easy to act out your lines without being distracted or forgetting your lines. Practicing yoga on a regular basis has enabled her to cope with many aspects of her theater acting career such as the pressure that comes with having to execute her lines well through improved amount of concentration.

Finola Bryan

Finola is a Hollywood actress who has devoted herself into instructing and teaching yoga techniques to anyone who, once like her, was interested in knowing and experiencing its benefits. She cannot deny the benefits that yoga has had on her health and fitness level, but it has created the biggest impact on her acting career. She now feels that she has developed as an actor due to the physical exercises and meditation aspects of yoga that has helped her look inside of herself in a more accurate manner.

Mira Nair

As a film director, Mira Nair knows what she wants from her actors such that she strongly advocates yoga to anyone who aspires to succeed in the acting field. Performing yoga enables you to attain an introspect that builds self-esteem, empowers, and inspire creativity. Actors need all of those qualities to be able to excel and bring their characters to life in every aspect of an acting job.

New Branches of Yoga in Hollywood

The best thing about yoga, and probably one reason for its increased appeal among celebrities, is the ability to customize your approach to suit your own needs, fitness or health goals, and skill level. In Hollywood alone, there are two newer systems of yoga that were innovated such that these celebrities would be able to practice yoga consistently in their everyday lives.

*Naked Yoga – This particular style of yoga is not only gaining popularity among celebrities, but also throughout the USA. As the name implies, this style of yoga is done while the person is naked since many believe nudity is a form of spiritual experience that is deep and sacred. In some cases, yogis even practice this style of yoga in groups.

*Doga Yoga – This is the most recent branch of yoga observed by most celebrities and is ideal for those that are dog owners as well. In this style of yoga, both the pet owner and their dogs participate in doing yoga postures at the same time. It may also include meditation that helps in enriching the bond between the owner and their pet dog.
