Its no wonder that people have used color to describe their moods for many years. But did you know you can color yourself healthy, too? Each of the colors in the rainbow is thought to have natural healing powers. You can tap into this positive, chi energy, through color therapy. Also known as chromotherapy, this type of vibrational medicine may be used in alternative health clinics.
Color therapy practitioners recognize that the various colors all have unique electromagnetic energy, given that they are visible at different wavelengths. Perhaps one of the best known and accepted color therapy treatments is the use of a light box to treat seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Exposure to full spectrum light (mimicking natural daylight) has been proven to have similar benefits to getting outdoors on a sunny day. Medical professionals often prescribe light boxes for depressed patients. You can purchase one without a prescription, as well.
Using specialized light filters, you can transform a light box into a method of exposing yourself to certain colors on the spectrum that are necessary for your own healing.
Some people like to drink or bathe in water that has been energized by a particular color on the spectrum. It is very simple to make your own solarized water at home. You simply need a plain glass, a colored light filter (your choice), pure mineral or spring water, an elastic band, a piece of cotton fabric, and a sunny windowsill.
Cover the glass with the color filter and secure with an elastic band. Fill the glass with the water and cover with the cloth. Place on the windowsill. After a few hours, light absorption should be complete. You can refrigerate and use for up to 5 days.
Very simple to use in color therapy. Depending on the color that is determined to be necessary for your healing, merely place a piece of colored silk on the body. Direct skin contact is preferred, but not necessary. Colored silks are effective in treating human and animal patients, as well!
