The Natural Way

Pears are a wonderful natural laxative.People who suffer from chronic constipation should try an exclusive diet of pears or pear juice, for a few days. In normal cases, eating a pear with breakfast, or after dinner will suffice.

This is another excellent fruit as a remedy for constipation. It should be eaten along with its seeds, as an excellent source of fibre, at least two per day.

One of nature's best natural cures for constipation, the grape has cellulose, organic acids and sugar which form an excellent laxative. Grapes do not only help to empty the bowels, but also help with the toning of intestines and stomach. Grapes are capable of relieving even chronic depression. About 350 g daily are recommended. If grapes are out of season, or unavailable for whatever reason, raisins are a reasonable substitute. Soak the raisins for 1 to 2 days and they will reconstitute, and swell to almost their original size. Take these early in the morning, including the water they were soaked in.

One or two first thing in the morning, and again at night time, will improve peristaltic activity, stimulating bowels, and preventing the buildup of food residues in the colon.

Papaya and Figs

A small Papaya or a few figs with breakfast are a very good natural laxative. Figs can be fresh or dried although the dried figs should be soaked overnight in water.

Eating fresh spinach is a very healthy way to keep the intestinal tract clean and well functioning. In cases of chronic constipation, raw spinach juice in water, drunk twice daily, will show results in only a couple of days.

Fresh lime juice and salt in hot water is another of the finest and easiest natural cures for constipation.┬┤This can be taken as often as you like, as there are no negative effects, but will be most effective last thing at night or first thing in the morning.

Linseed oil; taken with water prior to meals, will provide fibre and also lubricate the intestines; thus facilitating easier bowel movements.

Most importantly, make sure you have a well balanced natural diet. Plenty of unrefined foods, as in bran, lentils, leafy green vegetables, whole grain cereals, and fruits. Avoid sugar and its products, and anything made from white flour; bread, cakes, pastries, or rice, pulses, cheese, and eggs; especially hard boiled.

Plenty of exercise, preferably outdoors, will strengthen the muscles, help you relax, and keep everything regular.

Drink plenty of water; at least six glasses a day. Better still, continue to drink until you feel completely full. The more you do this, the more you will stay regular.

These natural cures for constipation are not only kinder to your body than pharmaceutical remedies, but so much nicer to take!

If you are really having problems, you may need to detox your body, which can also be done the natural way.
