Keep a Journal
Start by keeping a food or diet journal. By recording certain elements, and keeping track of your emotional well being, you will be able to detect whether the diet is good or affects our mental image.
Dieting can create your emotions to swing from happy to sad and so forth; therefore, by recording your mood you will begin to take control of your emotional well-being.
Every day, enter your inner feelings, did you wake up grumpy or excited? Write down your feelings, this is the beginning to record your emotions.
During the day, record the urges to snack, to quit and your inclination to give it all up. Most importantly at the end of each day, write down how well you did, or how you failed. Notice the difference in your emotional state when you record the facts.

Dealing with the urge to snack
If you get a sudden urge to snack and if possible take a brisk walk, this will assuage the hunger pangs. A hunger pang only last for about a minute. Another way to deal with this is to brush your teeth, that good cleaning feeling takes away cravings instantly.
While dieting it is acceptable practice to stay active, either join a health club or exercise at home. The exercise helps to deal with snacking urges and has the added benefit of helping to tone muscles while your body rids itself of fat.
