Evening Primrose Oil Benefits

Updated on August 16, 2015

Evening Primrose Oil - capsules suitable for vegetarians

You will probably recall that when I lived back in England, I was the owner | operator of a health food store. It as a fascinating - and very educational - experience.

During that time, I learned a great deal and even witnessed some natural cures that I classed as miraculous. Truly.

Learning about natural remedies

I have to admit that I have no qualifications when it comes to natural cures and remedies. But the subject had been an almost lifelong interest and of course, when I started the store, I studied the subject even further.

I read learned journals and news daily. It was my responsibility towards my customers and I took it very seriously indeed.

The first thing I found out about evening primrose oil

At once I noticed that it was being hailed as a miracle cure for what we shall call 'women's ailments'; those of a monthly nature. But that's not all by any means. I started taking it daily and insisted that the family did too.

Even the menfolk discovered that their hair, skin and fingernails showed a huge improvement. My mum found that it helped her arthritis and joints.

What menopause?

So many of my customers were women who were having a hard time with what they called 'the change'. Hot flashes, bloating, horrible mood swings name it. I suggested evening primrose oil capsules and I promise you, most women reported a huge difference within just a few weeks. It truly was miraculous. Years later, when it was my turn, I had been taking EPO for many so long.

One day, and I don't want to be indelicate here, I found what I shall call a pack of 'ladies' necessaries' in the back of my bathroom cupboard. 'Goodness' I asked myself 'when did I last need these?' I reckoned it had been at least a year and a half. It was truly a case of 'what menopause?' I'd had the whole malarkey and not noticed!

The greatest miracle

My favorite story is yet to come. One day a young man came into the store, dragging his really poorly-looking girlfriend. He said that he was dreading the following week because once a month, his girlfriend had to take to her bed in pain - so much so that he had to carry her to the bathroom. She couldn't even walk. She had been to countless specialists and I was the last resort. I sold them some EPO but it seemed to me that she needed serious surgery.

Five weeks later

The young man came into the store, but this time with a different girl. 'He's dumped her' I thought 'he couldn't cope with her monthly problems, the jerk'. As you might have guessed, I was wrong. It was the same girl. This confident, healthy girl walked into my store to thank me 'for saving her life'. Nonsense. I just told her what I'd read but you've no idea how wonderful it was to see what to this day I consider a miracle.

At the health food store,I saw many results that could have been classed as miraculous. But when you start to think about it - and study the subject - a rather obvious question comes to mind.

How has the human race survived so long?

It's true that today we have cures for diseases that we consider minor and that those illnesses could have been fatal before we had modern medicine.

But nevertheless, the very fact that the human race has thrived indicates to me that herbal and 'alternative' medicines must have value, even today.

We are so accustomed to the miracles of modern science but maybe it's time to pay more attention to the cures of times gone by.

@Brite-Ideas: I saw some amazing results and the fact that it helps hair, skin and nails is an added bonus, too.

thanks for this, I'll look into this vitamin as an option - I'm an avid vitamin user and this one sounds like it could be helpful - I've heard of it, but haven't read to much about it - thanks for the nudge in this direction :)
