Intermittent fasting, following a feast and fast diet, has recently become popular because it can be very effective and easier than traditional dieting. Some believe (including me) that intermittent fasting will revolutionize the way people lose weight.

The concept of fasting dates back to the early years of man's history. It has been used for spiritual, political and for weight loss. Recently Dr. Michael Mosely, a scientific researcher discovered that by modifying fasting and eating a low calorie diet just 2 days a week health would be improved and weight loss could be achieved. And the beauty of it all - for many people it is so much easier than traditional dieting.

Benefits of The Fast Diet

Research indicates that in addition to weight loss, The Fast Diet may offer many benefits. Keep in mind that these benefits have not been proven yet.

Here are some of the benefits that may result from the Fast Diet:

  • Lower Blood Pressure
  • Improved cholesterol
  • Longer lifespan
  • Improved blood glucose
  • Better cognitive function
  • Increased protection from heart and other diseases

With the Fast Diet women get 500 calories and men get 600 calories on the fast days.

The Fast Diet Explained

With the fast diet you eat what you like 5 days a week. On the other 2 you limit your calories. Women get 500 calories on the fast days and men get 600.

Though it may seem difficult it is surprisingly easy for many because you know the next day you get to have whatever you want.

You can eat the calories at one meal, break it into 2 meals or 3 meals - whatever works for you.

In his book, Dr. Mosely shares that he likes to eat a small breakfast and dinner. I personally prefer lunch, a small snack and dinner. As you experiment with the plan you will see what is right for you.
