How many hours in a day do you sleep and how many hours of sleep in a day one should have?
I know I do not sleep enough hours....Usually I get about 5 1/2 - 6 hours of sleep. I think one should get at least eight. Teenagers I have read should get the most sleep at 9 to 10 hours.
If I have nothing to do I usually go to bed late around 12:00am - 1:00am and sleep till 12:00pm - 1:00pm.. which is an obvious 12-13 hours.. From what I have heard and from what I have read, 8 hours is what should be slept any given day.
hmmm all of you said 8 hours. I think i should take yr words seriously and should give rest to my body. Thank for friends for your answers.
The answer for this question is a little different for each person actually. Personally I need about 7 hours to feel good. Too much sleep is also bad, finding the perfect balance is important. It's also good to get to bed and wake up at a similar time each day so you have a set sleeping schedule.
I tend to naturally sleep about 8 hours unless I've been particularly exhausted and missed a lot of sleep. If I'm well rested 5 hours will do me but I like my sleep.
8 hours seems to be the recommended amount per day.
I sleep 8 hrs. a day and a person should have at least 8 hrs. of sleep everyday. Not only that, you should also sleep on time.
I usually sleep for 5 hours, because I must complete at least 1 article per day for my blog at before sleep at night. . I think the standard hours of sleep are 7-8 hours per day.
The hours of sleep needed varies with age. Very young children need 12-18 hours, older children around 9- 10 as it helps growth and metabolism. Adults need around 6-8 hours to feel refreshed. You may acquire a 'sleep debt' if you don't sleep enough and it can affect you. As we get older (over 60) we sleep less maybe 4-6 hours. After working in long late night rotas I can hardly sleep and get by on 4-5 hours like Da Vinci, Newton, Churchill, Edison etc. So either it can lead to genius or mental illness.. my family says I am already half way there (I don't think they mean genius!)
Your body needs about 8 hours of sleep to stay healthy. Many people do not realize that their tiredness and irritability during the day comes from getting an inadequate amount of sleep. The body needs to refresh itself. Some people do well with only 6 hours of sleep. I require at least 7 hours of sleep to keep from feeling sluggish. Not only is the quantity of sleep important, but also the quality of sleep. If you toss and turn all night you might still wake up feeling unrested.
8 is the norm .6 is perfect. more sleep will make you sleepy the whole day and less sleep will make you lethargic the whole day.
so 6 is the perfect amount...
I sleep anywhere between 7 and 9. Usually 7, because I'm up on Hubpages answering questions when I should be sleeping!
I'm a firm believer in letting your my body decide how much sleep I should have. In an ideal world I'd go to bed shortly after dark and wake up shortly after light. That's the way we're programmed biologically, I guess there must be a reason for it.
Don't know about 'should' as each person is individual. In general, I find my sleep time / length varies naturally through the year / seasons. I sleep longer in the winter (dark evenings) and far less in the summer (much lighter). That is how we have evolved, surely?
The pineal gland (one of the endocrine glands) is involved in modulation of wake / sleep patterns and seasonal functions, as are various other parts of the central nervous system, and the eyes. Indeed, the production of melatonin by the pineal gland is stimulated by darkness and inhibited by light.
Maybe the answer is: in an ideal world one's body can decide for itself, given the changes in seasons (natural light). Is this what we ought to aspire to? Learning to really listen to our body as it naturally follows the rhythms of nature?
I am hopeless with anything less than 7-8 hours of sleep. I suffer all day the next day if i dont get that amount of sleep.
