Are there times when you think adult diapers would certainly be more convenient?
Lets try to be mature about this. Lets face it, you can get fined if you get caught peeing in some places, especially if you're not lucky enough to live in a rural area. And there have to have been times when you knew it would be a long time before you got to the bathroom, or you actually began to feel pain from holding it for too long. So be honest, even if you didn't actually use them, has there ever been a time when wearing adult diapers or just plain incontinence pants would have been a life saver?
I jumped into a cave in the Dominican Republic a few weeks ago - free-falling, from quite up-high and I had doubts that I would live. I thought about diapers at one point ...
Maybe sometimes, they could be necessary ... rofl
I saw this question and started giggling because it is such an honest question, if that makes sense. When I was pregnant with my twin daughters (they're 8 now), I had to go all the time. Then when they got heavier, I could barely hold it. Talk about incontinence. Ugh! I definitely thought about wearing adult diapers.
First off, thank you to those who responded and to any future responders ahead of time for answering this maturly. Even if you don't agree with it, I think we're in a day and age now when we can accept different ways of thinking, especially in how we handle our bodies and their needs.
I do wear diapers out of convenience. I'm not incontinent as such, but I can't stand the feeling of holding it when the pressure is so strong. A full bladder is such an amazing discomfort that if I can let it go wherever I am, I just do it.
Recently I was working in the electronics department of K-mart and when I was there, I wasn't allowed to leave to use the restroom unless someone was covering me, because people would steal stuff if there was no one watching the area. And you'd be surprised how much of a hassle it is to get a coworker to watch your counter for the five minutes it takes to go and relieve your bladder.
And of course you have to drink water, especially during the really busy parts of the day when you might not get a lunch break for hours. So eventually that goes right through you and it is so hard to focus on work when the urge to urinate is the primary thing on your mind.
Of course....I think most older adults have one time or another used them. My Mom is 87 and wears one all the time now, has to or there would be a mess for me to clean up. Nothing to be embarrassed about if we have to wear them...anyway, who would know.
I guess my only concern about this, being a nurse and changing so many of them on adults, would be becoming to dependant on them and causing skin breakdown. (Much like daiper rash, and yeast which thrives in warm wet environments and wreaks havok on the skin tissue if left untreated.)
I suppose it could be convenient for a once in a while thing, maybe a long trip, or if you are going to be at a place for a long period of time where toileting is unavailable, but other than that, I would stay away from it as long as possible.
Eventually, if we live long enough, most of us will probably have no choice but to wear one.
Ok. So this is a bit embarrassing but.. I do go out with my motorcycle club on long trips. Maybe 2 too 3 hundred miles at any given time. Anyhow, when I go on these trips I do not dictate stops. So that became a problem almost instantly.
S,econd I use a 1 piece leather suit when I go on these trips. Sorry wife requires it.
So last month I decided to try using an adult diaper after a friend suggested it. I now dont go on a trip without one. Wife thinks it is funny but necessary. Yes... They are convenient but it would never use them full time.
Yes! I worked as a cocktail waitress in a major casino on the Las Vegas strip and believe it or not you could not imagine how many people refuse to get up from their slot machine to urinate, rather sitting and peeing in the padded chairs. I wish they would give out adult diapers to all of those, as soon as they give out their "reward cards" LOL
Also I know a car salesman in Florida and he says that they should be wearing adult diapers as well. During the test drives of vehicles they pee in the seats. Life saver? Yes. But more of a life saver for those who have to sit in that seat later.
I am wearing adult diaper by convenience for several years now. I live in France and have created a blog to share it with everyone and it is amazing the success the blog had very quickly and home many people started to write messages.
It's in French but if you are curious http://couchesadultespratiques.blogspot.com
