Do you think you could eat healthier, and what would you eat?
I am trying each day to eat a little healthier and am doing so by following the Mediterranean style of diet. This includes lots of fruits and vegetables as well as whole grains.
Overall, I think that staying as close to a whole food as possible and eliminating processed foods is a healthy way to go.
I try to eat healthy each day-----fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, whole grains etc. I prefer home cooked food, and avoid high calorie or oily food. I snack with dates or fresh fruits. I do not take bottled or canned food items, because they have excess of salt or sugar.
Too much of anything is bad, so I try to control the portions as well.
Having said that, I must admit it is not easy, because I love cakes, sweets, ice cream, chocolates etc.
Yes, I could always eat better. More home meals with fish and chicken. More sides instead of pasta. Get rid of the chips and have some crackers instead.
I try to eat only fresh vegetables and fruit. My girl friend and I will occasionally have fish maybe once a week. I recommend reading "the china study". It completely opened my mind to a healthier lifestyle. I've felt more energized and alive because of it.
