   I try my best to tolerate them until they start bringing me down, then I just ignore them.

      I think we all have to deal with them at some point. I like to surround myself with positive people but that is not always possible.

   I just don't deal with them. Let them go before you become a negative person, and nobody want to be around negative people unless they are a negative person.

      angelsteelrolin76 I believe you are right they will eventually bring you down but what if you have to work side by side with them? I would love to send them packing right out of my life but at this point it is not a possibility.

      Only deal with them on a need basis. No casual talking or relationship building. If they want to talk, just say you have to go and just walk away.

   Sometimes I ignore them, but other times I take the mickey out of them. Depends who it is. There's a young lady at work who moaned about every darned thing. A little while ago, people started saying, " Are you off again?" Then someone asked her if she was okay, because she hadn't moaned for ten minutes. When she started grumbling, I said, " There we go! I knew you had it in you."  She really hadn't fathomed how negative her comments were until people started teasing her.
   
   Then there's the person who gossips all day, every day - drama, woes, negativity. I've quit trying to get her to lighten up, it's too draining. I just don't engage in any conversation. It's far easier to keep working than take her on. She wanders off fairly quickly.
   
   You learn to judge who can be jollied out of their mood, and who is too set in their ways.
