Is it wrong to let a pet depart life with the comforts of home instead of being euthanized ?
SoSo, our 12 yr old feline has Squamous Cell Carcinoma. It has given her a death sentence of 1-3 mos. She is on medications and comfortable. We opted out of the radical jaw removal and radiation/chemo, because it will not lengthen life and the cancer cells just rapidly grow right back. She is with her three brothers and feeds thru a tube, purrs when fed and enjoys being brushed. Why should we take her away from what little enjoyment she has just for convience sake? We're okay with the time it takes with her, we love her. I wouldn't kill my child.
If she isn't in pain I wouldn't think it was wrong. Personally I had to make that tough decision a couple of weeks ago. Five years ago my feline was diagnosed with kidney disease and the last 3 months she declined rapidly and lost tons of weight and couldn't keep food down and stopped using the liter box. So for us it was time to put her down, she was suffering. Making that decision is a hard one to do and definitely not one to make lightly. So if your feline is happy and in no pain then spend as much of those happy times as you can with her cause it's hard when they go.
I love the fact that she keeps going into the rooms that we are in. She was like in a closet or under a coffee table, however, the past few days she has attempted to at least be near us. Could be her way of saying "It's okay, I'm ready" maybe.
That could be I have little vet tech and animal behavior experience and from what I learned cats will most likely hide when their time is coming. They prefer to be alone for some reason.
Well, today has made our decision. She is definitely is ready. She got sick a little from her meds last night and has made a drastic change for the worse in the past 48 hours. I can barely type. Hubby went to work but won't be there you know?
I'm sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is hard to do they become like children to us.
I know. Thank you. I'm so sad. I want her to take her last breath here. I don't want her knowing we took her away from her home and to a place she loathed to take her final breath. That is just killing me inside.

Why is it that fundamentalists gravitate toward right and wrong instead of social justice?Let's quote the Old Testament left and right, especially Leviticus and Deuteronomy, who was a cat, by the way, in the musical "Cats." Forget about Jesus suggesting we give eveything away,...
