On day-4 of no nicotine. Can anyone share their story about how they got through smoking cessation beyond the mere physical cravings? I'm super unmotivated, foggy-headed and angry at everything.

I'm proud of you, Jessie! I never smoked but I know it's really difficult. From what I've heard, you're in pretty much the worst stages right now. Basically, it can't get any worse than this! You'll just have to power through, and after that you'll feel much better. Maybe just remove all temptation from anywhere near you and distract yourself with as much as possible.

Jessie, the fact that you’re irritable is a manifestation of nicotine withdrawal. I think that it’s pretty normal. Yes, I went through it too and it was not pleasant. Whatever we focus on expands. If you focus on lighting up, you just might. Therefore, don’t focus on your next cigarette. Imagine yourself instead as a nonsmoker.

Stay away from slippery situations, like friends who still smoke.

Are you using Nicorette gum or some other smoking cessation product? I did, and it really helped. (Actually, I used the Target-brand of Nicorette.)

Why not use this time to enhance your physical fitness program. When I quit, I increased my daily walking and speed walking routine in my neighborhood.

Today, I can smell cigarette smoke three miles away and it really sickens me. Hopefully, you will be there soon.

      Thanks for the response.

I'm usually active. Yoga 1x per week. BJJ 1X per week. Kickboxing 1x per week. Calisthenics 3x per week.

I've actually lost motivation to do any of the above haha...gonna do some light cardio this morning to try and get back on the horse...

I should probably divulge that I quit smoking pot too. So, it's a double-wammy. lol

My first step was accepting that there would be nothing easy about it for a very long time. People get discouraged when I tell them that it took me about a year and a half before I truly felt free with minor cravings here and there. 5 years into it I didn't think about it ever. I'm presently 12 years in and have absolutely no desire for it and find the smell repulsive. I think its best to accept that it will be a long haul right up front. It keeps you committed and from fooling yourself that tomorrow will be better. Not being upfront with yourself just leads to the excuse that it's just too hard for too long. It stinks but it is soooo worth it!!! Keep going you won't regret it. Best wishes for your success!

I successfully stopped smoking by using these:

I also included a vigorous exercise regimen. 1000 sit ups a day. Not only can I breath better, I can also open a can of tuna with my abs.
