Gluten Free Breakfast Cereal & Oatmeals

Updated on May 15, 2014

Finally a Tasty Gluten-Free Breakfast!

When I became gluten-free I was so sad because it meant I had to give away all my favorite oatmeal products. Thankfully someone has decided to revive oatmeal by making it gluten-free and begun a movement in creating delicious breakfast cereals. We no longer have to sigh when everyone else whips out their oatmeal or favorite cereals. Since I was so excited about the turn of events in gluten-free breakfast foods, I just had to share! I hope anyone who is gluten-free or knows someone struggling with becoming gluten-free will find some help in this squidoo.

I love Bakery on Main products so much I eat them as a snack at any time during the day. There are so many flavors and the combinations they have are amazing. Instead of your typical one cereal item fills a whole box they have nuts, raisins, fruit, and granola mingled together. The variety of flavors is amazing because it satisfies just about anyone. I always purchase a few because I end up going through them so fast! The extreme fruit and nut granola is my favorite but I love just about all of them (and have sampled my way through just about every flavor).

Bakery on Main Products to Try and Buy - Stock up at once because they are amazing!

I love extreme fruit and granola but i also have a passion for these flavors as well. Generally they are pretty pricy in the grocery store so consider ordering them to save money. I know. The gluten-free lifestyle is expensive!

Bob's Red Mill Oatmeal - Oatmeal for those who are not a fan of instant

I like instant oatmeal but I also love to sometimes make my own. When I was little, we would have oatmeal cold with lots of Nesquik on top. I am not supposed to eat sugar (I try but it is a losing battle 90% of the time) so when I am doing well I like to make this oatmeal with no-sugar chocolate chips and stevia for sweetening. It actually turns out delicious and sometimes I add a hint of cinnamon or vanilla for an added bonus.

Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free Products - Bob's Red Mill is one great gluten-free brand

I have to say I really like a lot of the Bob's Red Mill products. Try some out for yourself!

Are you an 'instant' or 'made from scratch' oatmeal eater?

Envirokidz Peanut Butter Panda Puffs - Enjoy that childhood Captain Crunch gluten-free style!

I grew up loving the peanut butter Captain Crunch. Who wouldn't? It was sugary, peanut buttery, and the spokesperson was a pirate. I dearly missed the flavor so when I came across this in an organic grocery store I had to try it. The texture is a little different but the taste is fantastic. I have really come to like the envirokidz brand even though I am a long way from being a kid.

Envirokidz Gluten-Free Cereals - Not just for kids!

Along with Peanut Butter Panda Puffs, Envirokidz has a great line of other childhood favorites. Try them all and see how they compare to your memories of the old days.

EcoPlanet Gluten-Free Instant Oatmeal - Gluten Free Maple and Brown Sugar? Soooo goood.

I came across this oatmeal in the middle of nowhere meaning South Dakota. How is it such a fabulous product was there and not in the large city where I live? I have no idea but I love the taste and texture. You truly feel like it's regular oatmeal and they do a great job with the flavors. I absolutely despise instant oatmeal where they skimp on flavor. No fear here. They do a wonderful job ensuring every delicious bite is filled with maple and brown sugar flavor!

Have a favorite flavor? Mine is typically anything involving maple sugar or cinnamon. If you are not a fan of that flavor, create your own with original or try apple & cinnamon!

Gluten Free Cinnamon Chex - Finally! Cinnamon Toast Crunch for us!

I loved the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. So sugary and I could eat bowls at a time. Once again, I was so sad when I could no longer eat it. Plus, I would have to watch (on the rare times my mother purchased it) my siblings devour it with delight. Thankfully, Chex's cinnamon brand tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I once ate a whole box in a day. It was that good. If you miss the days of cinnamon toast crunch, stock up on this version.

Gluten Free Chex Products

Chex has joined up with gluten-free to make our lives a little tastier. Order through Amazon or head to a local grocery-store to pick up a flavor or five.

Enjoy Life, Crunchy Flax Cereal

When you want to stay away from the sugary cereals then try Crunchy Nut Flax. The name sounds downright unappetizing (that's what I initially thought) but the cereal actually makes an excellent backdrop when you add blueberries, strawberries etc. I also have put honey (a sugar no-no) on to give a sweet flavor or just eat it plain.

Enjoy Life Tasty Cereals

Enjoy Life cereals are more of the adult version of breakfast (no peanut butter panda puffs here). Their cereals are more along the nutritional side and far less sugary. Since the change in diet, I have moved towards Enjoy Life cereals as they are friendly to my diet. Even if you are dedicated to sugary cereals, give the Enjoy Life brand a try. You never know, you may end up finding a new love!
