The Golden Rules of Life

Updated on August 11, 2012

Life is a Gift

Life is the greatest gift of God. The best way to thank God for this great gift is to lead a good life. A happy life, a satisfied life, a successful life. God wants us to lead a purposeful life. The golden rules of life are the different steps of stair which will take you to a better life and a better world for us and for others.

The Golden Rules of Life

Contentment

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.” Epicurus

Contentment is indeed a real gem. For many people, "contentment" and "hapiness" are one and the same. Contentment is a matter of being satisfied. Satisfied with what you have and what you are. It is a way of being happy. It doesn't mean that you should give up all the efforts in life. No that is not contentment. Contentment is about being with what you have achieved in life not what you haven't achieved.

"Happiness is self contendedness." Aristotle

Simplicity

"The simplest things are often the truest." Richard Bach

Simplicity is the golden rule of life. Simplicity comes from within. As people are becoming more and more exhausted by the rapid pace of modern life, simplicity has become a much vital virtue for a happy life.

Simple things in life can make the difference. A little thank you with a smile to your maid when she fetches you the newspaper, a phone call to an old friend just to refresh the past happy times and a moment of hug for your spouse, these things can sound little but that can prevent you from that emptiness and shallowness of a life which are the fruits of our materialistic world.

No life without Love

“A loving relationship is one in which the loved one is free to be himself -- to laugh with me, but never at me; to cry with me, but never because of me; to love life, to love himself, to love being loved. Such a relationship is based upon freedom and can never grow in a jealous heart.” Leo F. Buscaglia

Love is precious. The only thing more precious than love are the loved ones. Love is as necessary to life as oxygen. Love is both an action and emotion that makes us human. Love is what shapes a human. You cannot exist in the world alone. Imagine a life without the pure love of your mother, protection of your father, the laughter of your friends and the possessiveness of your life partner. You will value these relations the most when you lose them, so value them and treasure their moments.

Time is precious

“Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back.” Harvey Mckay

What is the most valuable thing in the universe? probably the best answer is, Time. It is the most important of all the golden rules of life. Time is priceless. Time is money, time is life, time is success, time is everything. Everything in the universe is acquired on time but time waits for nobody. Timing is the key to success. If you ask me what is the one thing that can be the most effective to lead a successful life, then my answer would surely be punctuality. The loss of time is the loss of opportunity, so make sure that you keep track of every second of yours.

Goal Orientation

"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you will land among the stars." Les Brown

The one and the most important thing in the life of man and animal is purpose. Every man in this world is sent with an objective. An objective or a duty that he has to complete. A goal he has to achieve. A clear goal is a must for anyone seeking a successful life. A clear goal not only provides an objective but also motivation to cope with difficulties. So keep you goal in heart and keep stressing.

Strike the nail aright

"I do not know anyone who has gotten to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but it will get you pretty near." Margaret Thatcher

The biggest secret in life is that there is no secret. If you want to achieve something in life then you have to work. When you have a clear goal in your heart than the only thing left for you is to march towards your goal. The way to success is always hard but the only thing that brings your goals closer is Hard Work. No matter what you want to achieve, your way will be tough but hard work is what makes all obstacles look small. So if you're willing to work then stay satisfied, you're goal will be on your steps.
